Waste

Reduce Single-Use Disposables

Do at Home

Historically, marginalized and low-income communities live closer to landfills, contributing to a multitude of health problems. I will find out how I can limit single-use items and do my best to limit the waste I generate. I will keep 3 container(s) out of the landfill each day.

This week was a challenge because twice I went to the grocery store and forgot my own bags at home. Lucky I was able to deal with it without using plastic bags.

A man commented the other day as my family and I left the grocery store carrying our groceries in our hands 'Are bags that expensive?!'

I giggled and replied that it's the price of the planet- we chose to save the bag! Haha...

Even when we don't realize the impact we have on others know YOU do. Together we are creating a change, a change in society, a change in the way people think and a change for the world we live on!

Doesn't it just make you grind your teeth? I find it challenging to also see excessive or unnecessary packaging... because citrus comes with it's own packaging, for example - not sure why some places feel the need to then plastic wrap them...

My concern is lack of education and action when it come to sustainability. This issue is so important that it should be required in all schools just like reading. Even in higher education Sustainability should be a required class. We now when humans are educated they will demand change. It's only then we will be able to save our Planet.
