Heather Klayman 10/28/2020 1:27 PMI wish snow was delayed a little while longer so I can enjoy the outside without freezing -
Heather Klayman 10/26/2020 6:40 AMEcochallenge has forced me to get outside again. Although the weather has not been friendly, I was still able to get out to nature for a short while -
Heather Klayman 10/19/2020 5:16 AMI am enjoying the great outdoors again. It's getting colder and I'm trying to think of ways to still appreciate the time outside. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONCommunity Engage In Active ListeningWhat was it like to actively listen to someone? How did both people and the conversation(s) benefit from active listening?
Heather Klayman 10/15/2020 7:46 AMI was able to clearly understand the ask. Although the other person was surprised by my quiet they thought they lost connection -
REFLECTION QUESTIONNature Go for a Daily WalkHow do you experience your neighborhood or city differently when walking instead of driving?
Heather Klayman 10/13/2020 4:56 PMWhen I travel, we don't rent cars because it allows us to experience the city or region first hand. Interacting with local people and tasting regional foods. I would rather walk a new city than drive it. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONNature Spend Time OutsideRachel Carson said that we need the beauty and mysteries of the natural world for our spiritual and emotional development. Does that ring true for you? What are the implications for a culture that spends most of its time indoors?
Heather Klayman 10/13/2020 4:55 PMCovid indoors has shown me a great appreciation for the outdoors. I have recently starting walking outside more and enjoying the fresh air in my local neighborhood. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Whole Foods DietMichael Pollan states that “it is better to pay the grocer (our edit: or the farmer!) than the doctor.” What are your thoughts on this assertion?
Heather Klayman 10/13/2020 4:53 PMIf we are eating right we would not need to visit the Doctor. We would be healthy to enjoy life. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Weekly Meal PlanningAn average American throws out about 240 lbs of food per year. The average family of four in the US spends $1,500 a year on food that they throw out. Does this surprise you? Where would you rather use this money?
Heather Klayman 10/13/2020 4:52 PMIt does not surprise me. I would rather spend the money on a vacation trip enjoying this beautiful world -
REFLECTION QUESTIONNature Enjoy the Sunrise/SunsetFather Thomas Berry says, "... our primary purpose is celebration. Celebration of the dawn and the sunset and the different seasons of the year is a religious ritual, a way in which humans can establish their integral relationship with the universe, with the planet Earth." What is your response to Berry's assertion?
