I'm learning to forgive myself for barely becoming aware of some bad habits I have been doing over the years that led to me unknowingly causing more harm to the environment.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Waste Go Paperless
Reducing your paper mail can reduce mental clutter as well as physical waste -- by reducing what is coming in, you can reduce what is going into the recycling bin too. How does it make you feel? What is the next step you will take to reduce your waste?

    Andrea Martinez's avatar
    Andrea Martinez 10/19/2020 9:19 AM
The less paper being used the better I feel, I have made all my credit card statements paperless.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Waste Skip the Straw
How could you incorporate other "R's" -- reduce, reuse, refuse, repair, repurpose, etc. -- into your lifestyle?

    Andrea Martinez's avatar
    Andrea Martinez 10/19/2020 9:19 AM
By using refillable water bottles and avoiding plastic utensils.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Waste Use Reusable Bags
What do you do if you find yourself in the situation of needing a bag for items but don't have a reusable one with you or aren't allowed to use the one you brought? Carry things out in your hands? In a cart? Accept a disposable one? If you find yourself in this position often, what system could you put in place to try to create a successful habit of not using plastic bags?

    Andrea Martinez's avatar
    Andrea Martinez 10/19/2020 9:18 AM
I always keep reusable bags in my car.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Waste Learn About & Practice Sustainable Fashion
How can you express your personality, creativity, and values in ways that don't require fast fashion or buying more clothes and accessories?

    Andrea Martinez's avatar
    Andrea Martinez 10/19/2020 9:18 AM
Thrifting instead of buying from fast fashion is a smarter choice.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Water Eco-Friendly Gardening
What are the most prominent water concerns in your area? Examples include drought, flooding, pollution, access, security, and privatization.

    Andrea Martinez's avatar
    Andrea Martinez 10/19/2020 9:17 AM
Drought is a big concern because it leads to more wild fires.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Waste Personal Waste Audit
Why is it often difficult to understand the impacts our purchases and waste have on other people, animals, and places?

    Andrea Martinez's avatar
    Andrea Martinez 10/19/2020 9:17 AM
It is difficult because once we get rid of our waste we do not know what happens to it, out of sight out of mind.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Water Fix Leaky Faucets
Fixing leaky faucets is one of the tasks that we can easily put off until later. Good job on completing this action! How will you use the momentum from completing this action to increase your water efficiency in other ways?

    Andrea Martinez's avatar
    Andrea Martinez 10/19/2020 9:16 AM
I will plan shorter showers and more efficient ways to wash my dishes.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Simplicity Research My Investment Portfolio
In what ways can you increase the positive impacts and decrease the negative impacts of your financial investments?

    Andrea Martinez's avatar
    Andrea Martinez 10/19/2020 9:16 AM
I can invest more time in budgeting.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Waste Find Local Recycling Depots
Our ability to recycle certain things ebbs and flows based upon many factors, including market demand for recyclables. Luckily there are places that accept uncommon things to recycle or dispose of in a less harmful way. What did you find when looking for places to recycle items that can't be recycled in your curbside bin?

    Andrea Martinez's avatar
    Andrea Martinez 10/19/2020 9:15 AM
I found that a lot of times you have to do your own research to find these resources.
