Sarah's actions
Simplicity
Core Values
Do at Home
We may find more meaning and joy in life when our actions are aligned with our personal values. I will determine what my top 3-5 core values are so that I can better align my actions with them.
Community
Connect with a Nonprofit
Do at Home
I will connect with a local nonprofit, environmental or otherwise, and find out how I can get involved or become a member.
Health
Support Pollution Reduction
Do at Home
I will spend at least 30 minutes learning about water and air quality issues in my area, how they are impacting human and environmental health, and how I can help.
Action Track: Healing and Renewal
Mindfulness Practice
Do at Home
I will spend 5 minute(s) per day practicing Mindfulness.
Nature
Do Nature Activities
Do at Home
I will engage in nature-based activities alone, or with my friends or family, for 15 minute(s) each day. (This can be anything from going on a walk or hike, to noticing the leaves changing color, to reading a book with nature themes.)
Simplicity
Go for a Daily Walk Outside
Do at Home
I will take a walk outside for 15 minutes each day.
Community
Express My Support
Do at Home
I will find out who in my state makes decisions that impact the environment and express my support for more environmental actions.
Action Track: Healing and Renewal
Happiness
Do at Home
I will write down three things every day that I am grateful for, or send one email every day thanking or praising someone.
Action Track: Justice for the Whole Community
Learn About Local Environmental Justice Concerns
Do at Home
I will spend 30 minutes researching environmental justice and environmental racism concerns in my region, who is affected by them, and local initiatives to address these concerns.
Nature
Support Local Pollinators
Do at Home
At least 30% of crops and 90% of flowering plants rely on pollinators to produce fruit. I will spend 30 minutes researching which plants support local native pollinators and plant some in my yard.

REFLECTION QUESTIONSimplicity Core ValuesWhat are your top 3-5 core values? How did you narrow it down to those as being your core values?
Sarah Murphy 10/27/2020 4:33 PMUsed an online tool to narrow down my core values and came up with Family, Kindness/Caring, and Balance (which included Fairness and Honesty), But reality was i really didn't need to tool. -
Sarah Murphy 10/27/2020 4:24 PMAlmost to the finish line! Keep up the posts and activities for one more day! Go Team! -
Sarah Murphy 10/26/2020 4:24 PMBeing mindful by reflecting on how I'm feeling is something I do daily. What I have not mastered is mindful eating. At least I don't think I've mastered that. I typically eat my breakfast while eating email (= no) and lunch and dinner with my husband, Jon (= maybe). I suppose it depends on what we're talking about over our meals, hahaha! -
Sarah Murphy 10/25/2020 4:30 PMI will be sorry to see the challenge end. It does make me more aware of taking time each and every day to be mindful, thankful and most of all cognizant of my activities. -
Sarah Murphy 10/24/2020 5:54 PMGetting used to the cooler temperatures and being outside. The changing tree colors are so pretty! -
Sarah Murphy 10/23/2020 5:02 PMNeeded my mindfulness practice today in a big way! I recorded time so i wouldn't forget to check in but probably need a little more time on the inner calm and focus! TGIF! -
Sarah Murphy 10/22/2020 5:09 PMWe're on the home stretch of the ecochallenge! So proud of the team contribution, good for us and good for the ecosphere!
