Today is the last day of the people's ecochallenge and overall, I think it went pretty well! Great job, team! :)
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Waste Tour a Waste Management Facility
Field trip! What a fun way to learn about our impact and consumption! What facility did you tour? What did you learn?

This reminded me of a documentary I had watched in the past of someone who calculated all of their family's waste over a long period of time. It is crazy to recognize all of the waste one person can produce.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Waste Research Local Waste Sites
In what neighborhoods or areas of your region are landfills or other waste sites located? Which communities are most affected by these locations?

    Heather Page's avatar
    Heather Page 10/27/2020 7:31 AM
The nearest locations I found serve at a countywide level rather than a particular city. The majority of residents in my community pay for trash and recycling services which is taken to the large landfill.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Waste Go Paperless
Reducing your paper mail can reduce mental clutter as well as physical waste -- by reducing what is coming in, you can reduce what is going into the recycling bin too. How does it make you feel? What is the next step you will take to reduce your waste?

    Heather Page 10/27/2020 7:30 AM
Switching to receive paperless mail makes me feel so much better! My next steps are to continue to enroll in paperless billing whenever I have the opportunity and recommend others do the same too.

  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Health Happiness
How does/can practicing gratitude keep you centered and motivated to work for a better world?

Practicing gratitude is such an important practice to be implemented in day to day life. Many of us are blessed in so many ways. Being thankful and showing appreciation allows us to remain centered and focused on the beauty of this life. Spreading kindness is an excellent way to remain motivated to work for a better world.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Health Forgiveness
How has the process of forgiving, or contemplating forgiveness, benefited you?

I thinking forgiving others is one of the most important things someone can do. Harboring anger or resentment for something is not good for you emotionally or for your health overall.

I think my people's ecochallenge has gone really well. It's been helpful to have goals set that push me to accomplish them daily. Hoping to finish the challenge out strong!
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Health Nurture Self-Compassion
How can nurturing your Self-Compassion also nurture healthier relationships with others and the environment?

    Heather Page's avatar
    Heather Page 10/21/2020 7:15 AM
Nurturing your self-compassion definitely correlates to how you are in other relationships. If you speak nicely to/about yourself, you are more likely to truly feel that way about yourself. Working on compassion for yourself will help you be more compassionate for friends and family as well. The goal is to always speak nicely/positively!
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Health Healthy Sleep
Consider how many hours of sleep you get now. How would you like to shift your sleep patterns? What are you finding works for you to be successful in this action?

    Heather Page's avatar
    Heather Page 10/20/2020 4:13 AM
I would love to continue to add more hours of sleep to my routine. I think what has been working best is limiting my screen time right before bed, which allows me to shut off my brain and go to sleep sooner.
