  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Waste Learn About & Practice Sustainable Fashion
How can you express your personality, creativity, and values in ways that don't require fast fashion or buying more clothes and accessories?

    Katie Walker's avatar
    Katie Walker 10/13/2020 12:04 PM
As I've gotten older, I realize more that style doesn't mean what's necessarily "trendy". Style is wearing what you want too, when you want too. This means that you don't have to constantly be trying to stay up to date with new fashion - much better for the planet!
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Waste Use a Reusable Mug
Maybe you've heard how good it is to switch from a single use coffee cup to a reusable one, but it's just hard to make the switch. What stands in your way of making this a habit? By identifying the challenges, you can begin to work through them to have better success in taking this action. Knowing the difference you are making, how does it make you feel?

The ease of grabbing a coffee that's already made is definitely appealing. However, working from home and keeping social distanced makes it much the temptation to go and get a coffee much less. Also, I am able to support a local business by purchasing their coffee and making it at home.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Simplicity Core Values
What are your top 3-5 core values? How did you narrow it down to those as being your core values?

    2. Health (physical and mental)
    3. Happiness

I took a look at what really mattered to me in life.

Amazing job so far Team Canada!
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Waste Use a Reusable Water Bottle
While water bottles are needed for health and safety in certain places, we can do more to reduce the unnecessary use of them. What are the barriers to you using reusable bottles and tap water instead of bottled water? How could you make this a permanent habit?

    Katie Walker's avatar
    Katie Walker 10/13/2020 11:50 AM
The barriers would definitely be related to location and where you are. Luckily I am home right now, and can easily fill up my water bottle. At the office we also have filtered water that is readily available. If I'm out running errands I just need to remember to bring my water bottle with me.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Simplicity Limit Social Media
Social media can keep us connected with loved ones, make us laugh, and help us to learn new things. It can also take more time than we realize or intend to give. After doing this action for a few days, how do you feel? What do you notice?

    Katie Walker's avatar
    Katie Walker 10/13/2020 11:49 AM
I feel a lot better after limiting my time on social media. I also have also gone ahead and unfollowed a lot of accounts that don't bring me any particular joy or make me feel good.
