Participant Feed

Reflection, encouragement, and relationship building are all important aspects of getting a new habit to stick.
Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.

To get started, share “your why.” Why did you join the challenge and choose the actions you did?

  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Waste Use a Reusable Mug
Maybe you've heard how good it is to switch from a single use coffee cup to a reusable one, but it's just hard to make the switch. What stands in your way of making this a habit? By identifying the challenges, you can begin to work through them to have better success in taking this action. Knowing the difference you are making, how does it make you feel?

    Amy Wanhala 10/28/2020 3:19 PM
Obviously, things are different right now, but knowing now how much of a difference the reuseable cup makes, helped me see that making the effort to remember to carry a mug with me, is absolutely worth it.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Transportation Work From Home
It takes the average worker in the United States 26 minutes to travel to work. One way to fix long commutes would be to make cities more affordable. An even simpler option: promote the use of telework. How have you used technology to replace in-person meetings or work this year?

    Amy Wanhala's avatar
    Amy Wanhala 10/28/2020 3:12 PM
Learning to use multiple platforms for virtual meetings has made it possible to at least see people, both in and out of work, when seeing people in person is either not feasible or not possible.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Energy Power Down the Computer
What are other easy things you could do to save energy and reduce your environmental footprint?

    Amy Wanhala's avatar
    Amy Wanhala 10/28/2020 3:08 PM
Making sure anything that doesn't need to be on or plugged in, isn't. :)
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Simplicity Family Game Hour
How does being playful with others enrich your life?

    Amy Wanhala's avatar
    Amy Wanhala 10/28/2020 3:06 PM
There seem to be a lot more laughs and/or conversation when playing board games or putting together puzzles.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Nature Go for a Daily Walk
How do you experience your neighborhood or city differently when walking instead of driving?

    Amy Wanhala's avatar
    Amy Wanhala 10/28/2020 12:23 PM
Things like waving at people and getting to appreciate your surroundings instead of having them go by in a blur are no longer taken for granted.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Nature Explore My Area
How can spending more time outdoors enhance your sense of place -- your deep knowledge of and appreciation for your surroundings?

    Amy Wanhala's avatar
    Amy Wanhala 10/28/2020 12:20 PM
It's surprising what you can find not far from your own front door if you only look.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Health Forgiveness
How has the process of forgiving, or contemplating forgiveness, benefited you?

    Amy Wanhala's avatar
    Amy Wanhala 10/28/2020 12:17 PM
Discovering that forgiveness doesn't mean excusing or in any way condoning the behavior of the offender and now "being ok" with things, but instead choosing freedom from being hurt by it anymore.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Health Healthy Sleep
Consider how many hours of sleep you get now. How would you like to shift your sleep patterns? What are you finding works for you to be successful in this action?

    Amy Wanhala's avatar
    Amy Wanhala 10/28/2020 10:17 AM
I would prefer to try and shift my sleep pattern to go to bed earlier and be up earlier.  I find that going 'low-tech' an hour before bed, i.e. book, music, is best for helping wind down.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Food Buy From a Farmers Market
What is one food choice that you make, or could make, that would do more good and less harm?

    Amy Wanhala's avatar
    Amy Wanhala 10/28/2020 10:13 AM
    Buying local when possible.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Energy Switch to Cold Water
What do you plan to do with the money you save from making more energy efficient choices?

    Amy Wanhala's avatar
    Amy Wanhala 10/28/2020 10:12 AM
Travel, once it's safe to do so. :)
