REFLECTION QUESTIONWater Eco-Friendly GardeningWhat are the most prominent water concerns in your area? Examples include drought, flooding, pollution, access, security, and privatization.
Vera Zaverkova 10/01/2020 12:58 AMCurrently drought, there isn't enough water for gardening during summer. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWaste Use Reusable BagsWhat do you do if you find yourself in the situation of needing a bag for items but don't have a reusable one with you or aren't allowed to use the one you brought? Carry things out in your hands? In a cart? Accept a disposable one? If you find yourself in this position often, what system could you put in place to try to create a successful habit of not using plastic bags?
Vera Zaverkova 10/01/2020 12:57 AMIf it is just a small amount of items, I can carry it in my hands. But when I need to carry the whole shopping cart, I buy a paper bag. In 90% of situations, I have my own reusable bag with me. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWaste Use a Reusable Water BottleWhile water bottles are needed for health and safety in certain places, we can do more to reduce the unnecessary use of them. What are the barriers to you using reusable bottles and tap water instead of bottled water? How could you make this a permanent habit?
Vera Zaverkova 10/01/2020 12:55 AMI prefer reusable bottles but sometimes it happens that I forget mine or it is suddenly empty. Then it is better for me to just buy a new water bottle than tapping water in untrusted areas. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONTransportation Walk InsteadHalf of all trips made in the US are three miles or less; 72% of them are driven. Does this statistic describe your own transportation habits? If so, how might you incorporate more muscle-powered transportation in your daily life?
Vera Zaverkova 10/01/2020 12:53 AMI go outside for a walk or just to a playground with my little one every day. We usually walk or go by a bus to our classes. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONTransportation Work From HomeIt takes the average worker in the United States 26 minutes to travel to work. One way to fix long commutes would be to make cities more affordable. An even simpler option: promote the use of telework. How have you used technology to replace in-person meetings or work this year?
Vera Zaverkova 10/01/2020 12:52 AMThanks to the pandemic situation, I have been working from home since April. The result of that is lots of saved time instead of wasting time in the public transport. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONNature Go for a Daily WalkHow do you experience your neighborhood or city differently when walking instead of driving?
Vera Zaverkova 10/01/2020 12:50 AMYou have much more time to feel the spirit of your neighborhood, watch people and nature and to notice anything unusual.
