REFLECTION QUESTIONNature Plant TreesHow is planting trees good for your mental, physical, and spiritual health?
Eric Aumiller 10/10/2020 11:10 AMI have purchased three pecan trees to plant in my backyard. I enjoy the physical exercise and planning to beautify my space with natural, food providing plants. This plan for the future will help us connect to the land and our home. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWaste Use a Reusable MugMaybe you've heard how good it is to switch from a single use coffee cup to a reusable one, but it's just hard to make the switch. What stands in your way of making this a habit? By identifying the challenges, you can begin to work through them to have better success in taking this action. Knowing the difference you are making, how does it make you feel?
Eric Aumiller 10/09/2020 10:40 AMThe effort of remembering to have a reusable cup and wash it is the only barrier. Its easy to do. I feel like I am setting an example -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWaste Research Local Waste SitesIn what neighborhoods or areas of your region are landfills or other waste sites located? Which communities are most affected by these locations?
Eric Aumiller 10/09/2020 10:38 AMWake County, NC currently has a large landfill between Holly Springs and New Hill. A past landfill was in North Raleigh near Durant Road and was covered up and converted to an outdoor park. Algae blooms form in Lake Jordan from agricultural watershed and poor water circulation. Gen X from industry washes down the Cape Fear River towards Fayetteville and the coast. Everyone is impacted. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONAction Track: Justice for the Whole Community Research Voter SuppressionWhat are the ways in which voters are prohibited from or discouraged from voting in your region and/or state? What could be done to get rid of these barriers?
Eric Aumiller 10/09/2020 10:35 AMVoter ID law requires proof of ID and extra steps to make barriers to vote. USPS may also be a barrier for mail in ballots. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONAction Track: Justice for the Whole Community Support Resilient PowergridsWhat does your vision of a sustainable community look like? What would need to be changed in order for that vision to become reality?
Eric Aumiller 10/09/2020 10:29 AMWe need more energy storage. Solar is changing the landscape and we need to flatten he load curve with energy storage.
