Rajmohan's actions
Transportation
Stay on the Ground
Do at Home
Instead of traveling by plane, I will find an alternative way to accomplish the goals of an upcoming trip (i.e. telepresence, vacation locally).
Transportation
Use Public Transit
I will use public transit 10 mile(s) each day and avoid sending up to (___) lbs of CO2 into Earth's atmosphere.
Action Track: Justice for the Whole Community
Watch a Documentary about Racial Injustice
Do at Home
I will watch 5 documentary(ies) about systemic racism.
Waste
Use a Reusable Mug
Do at Home
I will avoid sending 5 disposable cup(s) to the landfill each day by using a reusable mug.
Waste
Use a Reusable Water Bottle
Do at Home
I will keep 2 disposable plastic bottle(s) from entering the waste stream by using a reusable water bottle.
Waste
Skip the Straw
Do at Home
Plastic bags and small plastic pieces like straws are most likely to get swept into our waterways. I will keep 6 plastic straw(s) out of the landfill and ocean each day by refusing straws or using my own glass/metal straw.
Waste
Use Reusable Bags
If at all possible, I will not accept any disposable bags when making purchases.

REFLECTION QUESTIONWasteWhile water bottles are needed for health and safety in certain places, we can do more to reduce the unnecessary use of them. What are the barriers to you using reusable bottles and tap water instead of bottled water? How could you make this a permanent habit?
Rajmohan Balakrishnan 10/17/2020 12:26 AMThere are no barriers in using reusable water bottles, everything is in the mind. When started it was difficult initially due to the weight of the empty bottle, which seemed like unnecessary to carry once started it is a habit now. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWasteMaybe you've heard how good it is to switch from a single use coffee cup to a reusable one, but it's just hard to make the switch. What stands in your way of making this a habit? By identifying the challenges, you can begin to work through them to have better success in taking this action. Knowing the difference you are making, how does it make you feel?
Rajmohan Balakrishnan 10/17/2020 12:25 AMThe major challenge initially in using the reusable coffee mug was the hygiene factor of washing the Coffee mug after each use. Now it has become a habit. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWasteHow could you incorporate other "R's" -- reduce, reuse, refuse, repair, repurpose, etc. -- into your lifestyle?
Rajmohan Balakrishnan 10/17/2020 12:23 AMReduce generation of waste, Reuse whatever possible, Refuse which is not reusable or not biodegradable, Repair and use broken things to reduce waste, repurpose the ones which is at its end of life. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWasteWhat do you do if you find yourself in the situation of needing a bag for items but don't have a reusable one with you or aren't allowed to use the one you brought? Carry things out in your hands? In a cart? Accept a disposable one? If you find yourself in this position often, what system could you put in place to try to create a successful habit of not using plastic bags?
Rajmohan Balakrishnan 10/17/2020 12:21 AMAlways carry a reusable bag with me, if in a situation of not having one, then accept a disposable one.
