REFLECTION QUESTIONSimplicity Family Game HourHow does being playful with others enrich your life?
Clara Barton 10/24/2020 1:21 PMSpending time with family laughing and creating fun memories is an important part of life that enriches your life. Creating more opportunities to have these fun times together is important. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Try a New Way to PrepCanning and pickling food is a great way to have delicious summer fruits and vegetables all year round. Just make sure to follow the canning and pickling guidelines from the USDA or another trusted source. What are some foods that you would like to preserve and enjoy later in the year?

REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Join a Local CSADependable fresh food, better prices (cutting out carbon-heavy supply chain and grocery stores), supporting local farmers and building resilient communities are just a few benefits of local food systems. Which of these benefits (or others not listed here) inspires you the most?
Clara Barton 10/24/2020 1:18 PMSupporting Local Farmers inspires me the most, it helps to build up local communities as well as reduce your carbon footprint! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Buy From a Farmers MarketWhat is one food choice that you make, or could make, that would do more good and less harm?
Clara Barton 10/24/2020 1:16 PMEating local and eating environmentally conscious are always food choices that do more good and less harm. Personally, I am vegan and I have been trying to utilize access to local farmers in my community through the farmers market hosted at the park. Going vegan is not something everyone can do, but occasionally eating produce grown locally definitely does more good and less harm! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Meet My Local FarmersWhen you know who produces your food, you are connecting personally to your complex regional food system. What are the advantages of knowing who produces your food and where it comes from? How can knowing their food producers enable someone to advocate for a better quality of life for those who produce their food, both near and far?
Clara Barton 10/24/2020 1:13 PMTalking to my local farmers today at the farmers market allowed me to learn about the different certifications Missouri farmers can get to show that they don't use harmful pesticides on their produce and that they are taking care of the land they use. Being more aware of the impact the food you are buying has on the environment is a great advantage to help you make more educated decisions while shopping! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONSimplicity Go for a Daily Walk OutsideFresh air and movement are good for our entire being and can help us think more clearly and creatively. How does taking a walk each day affect yourself and/or your work?
Clara Barton 10/21/2020 8:54 AMTaking a walk each day has become a needed break from screens during this time of online learning, I have enjoyed walking around my neighborhood with my dog everyday -
REFLECTION QUESTIONNature Enjoy the Sunrise/SunsetFather Thomas Berry says, "... our primary purpose is celebration. Celebration of the dawn and the sunset and the different seasons of the year is a religious ritual, a way in which humans can establish their integral relationship with the universe, with the planet Earth." What is your response to Berry's assertion?
Clara Barton 10/12/2020 10:52 AMI feel as though nature today is seldom appreciated waking up early to watch the sunrise with my dog is a new way I have begun to celebrate nature thanks to this challenge. I can only imagine how this will help my relationship with the planet grow -
REFLECTION QUESTIONEnergy Calculate the Carbon Footprint of my HouseholdAfter you determined your carbon footprint, did you see what different choices you can make in order to reduce it?
Clara Barton 10/09/2020 10:18 AMI learned that if everyone lived like me we would need 3.4 earths! that is absolutely shocking! One way I can work towards reducing this is by opting to take more public transport, and by shopping more local when it comes to my food. I hope to make some of these changes to my lifestyle to reduce my carbon footprint.
I calculated my Carbon Footprint using this site: https://www.footprintcalculator.org -
Clara Barton 10/07/2020 8:09 PMI successfully kept my shower under five minutes! Definitely a big challenge for me! (I think there still might be some soap in my hair haha) -
