Debbie's actions
Waste
Compost Food Waste
Do at Home
I will avoid sending up to .69 lbs (.31 kg) of food waste to the landfill each day by composting my food or learning how to.
Action Track: Healing and Renewal
Happiness
Do at Home
I will write down three things every day that I am grateful for, or send one email every day thanking or praising someone.
Health
Go Get a Check Up
I will make an appointment for my annual physical.
Action Track: Justice for the Whole Community
Reduce Single-Use Disposables
Do at Home
Historically, marginalized and low-income communities live closer to landfills, contributing to a multitude of health problems. I will find out how I can limit single-use items and do my best to limit the waste I generate. I will keep 1 container(s) out of the landfill each day.
Action Track: Justice for the Whole Community
Watch a Documentary about Racial Injustice
Do at Home
I will watch 1 documentary(ies) about systemic racism.
Waste
Go Paperless
Do at Home
I will reduce the amount of paper mail that I receive by 3.4lbs (1.5kg) a month or 41lbs (18.6kg) a year by opting into paperless billing, ending unwanted subscriptions and opting out of junk mail.
Health
Know My Health
I will get my Core Four Biometrics tests (blood pressure, cholesterol, blood sugar and BMI).
Nature
Leave No Trace
Do at Home
I will practice the seven principles of Leave No Trace when doing nature activities alone or with family and friends.
Action Track: Justice for the Whole Community
Research Voter Suppression
Do at Home
I will spend at least 45 minutes finding out what local laws, policies, and practices keep people from voting in my community.
Nature
Do Nature Activities
Do at Home
I will engage in nature-based activities alone, or with my friends or family, for 25 minute(s) each day. (This can be anything from going on a walk or hike, to noticing the leaves changing color, to reading a book with nature themes.)

Debbie Bomgardner 10/22/2020 7:25 AMParticipating in EcoChallenge inspired me to start composting. I'm not yet ready to do my own backyard composting, but am loving the service we're now using - Common Good Compost (https://www.commongoodcompost.org/). They provide the bin and bags you see in this picture, and a 5-gallon pail w/airtight lid (kept in our garage). We take our small bags of compost to the big pail as needed, and then put that pail at the curb weekly to be emptied.-
