Community
Support Comerica's National Day of Service
As an extension to Comerica's National Day of Service in September, consider conducting a virtual volunteer action that supports our communities. Since there are no organized in-person river, beach or lake clean-ups in most communities this year, if you would like, you can consider cleaning up around your house and neighborhood to support your local environment as neighborhood storm drains commonly drain to local water bodies. Please do not invite others outside of your household if you choose this action.
Participant Feed
Reflection, encouragement, and relationship building are all important aspects of getting a new habit to stick.
Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.
To get started, share “your why.” Why did you join the challenge and choose the actions you did?

REFLECTION QUESTIONTransportation Drive LessHow has your access to various kinds of transportation throughout your life influenced your current attitudes about transportation and your transportation behavior?
Philip Brewer 10/20/2020 4:31 PMI have never truly had access to public transportation. I grew up in a community where it wasn't available and the community in which I reside currently does not provide access to public transportation. I spent a short time living in a more urban, city center environment where I would occasionally use the train, but given that I had grown accustomed to driving, planning to use an alternate form just seemed to take too much effort. I do like ride share however as it is has been built with ease in mind and am an advocate for the model. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONTransportation Conduct Virtual MeetingsHow can you ensure that your virtual meetings honor your values and your company's culture?
Philip Brewer 10/20/2020 4:27 PMI hosted my monthly team meeting today. We included partners from across business lines, I built the deck according to marketing standards and we continue to operate both in interaction and appearance as professionals. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONTransportation Work From HomeIt takes the average worker in the United States 26 minutes to travel to work. One way to fix long commutes would be to make cities more affordable. An even simpler option: promote the use of telework. How have you used technology to replace in-person meetings or work this year?
Philip Brewer 10/20/2020 4:26 PMAs a result of COVID I have been working from home since March and all of my meetings have been held virtually. While I enjoy the efficiency of these options, it sometimes makes it harder to separate work from home. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth Go Get a Check UpHow do you practice self care?
Philip Brewer 10/20/2020 4:19 PMI had my annual physical, had the core testing done and discussed a plan to improve my health with my doctor. I am in less than stellar health, some can be contributed to added stress, diet and lack of exercise throughout COVID, but time to stop using that as an excuse and get back on track. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONAction Track: Justice for the Whole Community Learn About Trans, Femme, and Nonbinary ExperiencesHow is equality for trans, femme, and nonbinary people important to a just and sustainable society?
Philip Brewer 10/20/2020 3:51 PMI lead the LGBT ERG in DFW and I chose this option to help me invest time to learn even more about the many variations within the community. I found it time well spent and insightful. -
Philip Brewer 10/19/2020 11:45 AMI'm doing a poor job of checking in daily, but I like the challenges and am feeling very positive about a few slight changes this event is leading me to make. Positive growth for the betterment of self and community.-
Kristin Bloser 10/20/2020 8:04 AMMany of us find ourselves having trouble checking in every day, and that's okay. Even if it is every couple of days, it still provides us a reminder about personally challenging ourselves to grow.

REFLECTION QUESTIONAction Track: Healing and Renewal HappinessHow does/can practicing gratitude keep you centered and motivated to work for a better world?
Philip Brewer 10/19/2020 11:43 AMI feel like pausing to reflect on what I am grateful for and then writing it down, just brings those things to the forefront of my day. While the day can take off and take me with it, this allows me to maintain perspective and stay centered. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONAction Track: Healing and Renewal Family Game HourHow does being playful with others enrich your life?
Philip Brewer 10/19/2020 11:40 AMLaughter. Laughter by far was the greatest joy and take away from slowing down and spending quality time together. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWaste Use a Reusable Water BottleWhile water bottles are needed for health and safety in certain places, we can do more to reduce the unnecessary use of them. What are the barriers to you using reusable bottles and tap water instead of bottled water? How could you make this a permanent habit?
Philip Brewer 10/15/2020 5:01 PMI drank more water today with a reusable bottle. That is motivation for me! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWaste Use a Reusable MugMaybe you've heard how good it is to switch from a single use coffee cup to a reusable one, but it's just hard to make the switch. What stands in your way of making this a habit? By identifying the challenges, you can begin to work through them to have better success in taking this action. Knowing the difference you are making, how does it make you feel?
