REFLECTION QUESTIONNature Forage for My FoodPeople are motivated to forage for many different reasons: as a source for food, a means of income, to connect with nature, to participate in cultural tradition, transmitting specific ecological knowledge, or as a means of stewarding local and native plant populations are just a few examples. What is your chief motivation for foraging?
Anna Chamberland 10/28/2020 8:48 AMWe reconditioned our backyard this year and, in the process, I had bark chips added. This fall, we had an abundance of mushrooms pop up. I, personally, love mushrooms. So, I spent some time learning about what mushrooms are edible, tasty, and environments where I can find some delicacies. I'm still searching, and look forward to learning more about Oregon forests. -
Anna Chamberland 10/28/2020 8:43 AMI believe my ecochallenge is good, though I know I could do better if I exerted more effort. Been thinking about closing my FB account, and I just can't get myself to do it! Ugh. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONAction Track: Healing and Renewal Engage In Active ListeningWhat was it like to actively listen to someone? How did both people and the conversation(s) benefit from active listening?
Anna Chamberland 10/22/2020 8:23 AMBeing heard is one thing, knowing that you've been heard gives you a sense of importance in the world. To not hear another is to discredit issues that are important. Whether you agree or disagree with what is said, a person's right to say something should be validated.
Voltaire: I may not agree with a word you say, but I will defend unto death your right to say it. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONAction Track: Healing and Renewal HappinessHow does/can practicing gratitude keep you centered and motivated to work for a better world?
Anna Chamberland 10/22/2020 8:19 AMBalance is so critical in the world. Giving thanks to the positive bolsters our confidence that we are moving in the right direction. Giving thanks for the challenges strengthens us and guides us on how we must act to reach our ultimate goal - creating a better world. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONAction Track: Healing and Renewal Research Restorative JusticeHow can Restorative Justice help foster the well-being of both people and planet?
Anna Chamberland 10/22/2020 8:07 AMI'm practicing connectedness with the Earth to find balance within myself. Aside from becoming grounded, I recognize that without a sustained and healthy plant, we humans, as well as other living things, would not exist. It's a symbiotic relationship. -
Anna Chamberland 10/20/2020 11:50 AMI joined the challenge in an effort to hold myself accountable and stick to what my heart says I should do. I chose my actions based on my physical capabilities - I have some impaired mobility, so things can be a challenge at times. Just gotta remember that these impairments should not keep me from living a good life! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONAction Track: Healing and Renewal Mindfulness PracticeWhat best helped you with your Mindfulness Practice? How does Mindfulness keep you grounded and sustain your work with compassion?
