To get started, share “your why.” Why did you join the challenge and choose the actions you did?

  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Energy Use an Energy Meter
How can you make your home more energy efficient?

    Michelle Chavez's avatar

Wash full loads, wash clothes at a lower temperature, avoid wasting water
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Nature Plant Trees
How is planting trees good for your mental, physical, and spiritual health?

    Michelle Chavez's avatar
    Michelle Chavez 10/18/2020 1:26 PM
I believe that planting trees helps you to be patient, it helps me personally to reflect on life, how a simple seed can grow so much with the necessary care. It helps you to be patient, careful, loving with plants and with everything around you.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Nature Go for a Daily Walk
How do you experience your neighborhood or city differently when walking instead of driving?

    Michelle Chavez's avatar
    Michelle Chavez 10/18/2020 1:25 PM
I feel that it is a really different panorama, I see things (trees, houses, animals) that normally I cannot appreciate from driving.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Nature Leave No Trace
Educator Stephanie Kaza advises her students to focus on what they care about most when addressing the enormity of ecological problems. Is there a specific area you feel particularly called to work on?

Save water and have less waste
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Nature Explore My Area
How can spending more time outdoors enhance your sense of place -- your deep knowledge of and appreciation for your surroundings?

    Michelle Chavez's avatar
    Michelle Chavez 10/18/2020 1:23 PM
I really appreciate going for a walk on the street, without my cell phone, without technology to appreciate the sounds of nature. I love listening to the birds sing, seeing the different types of trees and their fruits, appreciating each plant, breathing fresh air.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Energy Switch to Cold Water
What do you plan to do with the money you save from making more energy efficient choices?

    Michelle Chavez's avatar
    Michelle Chavez 10/18/2020 1:21 PM
I buy organic foods and superfoods
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Transportation Car Share
Take a moment to think of places you frequent often (work, grocery store, school, natural areas). Could you choose one or two days a week to schedule driving with a friend, neighbor or co-worker to these places?

    Michelle Chavez's avatar
    Michelle Chavez 10/13/2020 9:02 AM
Yes! We plan our groceries together
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Waste Go Paperless
Reducing your paper mail can reduce mental clutter as well as physical waste -- by reducing what is coming in, you can reduce what is going into the recycling bin too. How does it make you feel? What is the next step you will take to reduce your waste?

    Michelle Chavez's avatar
    Michelle Chavez 10/13/2020 8:57 AM
I went paperless long time ago and I feel good! I don't need the physical bank statements. I will encourage my family and friends to do the same
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food Choose Organic Ingredients
Many people say that “you can’t feed the world with just organic food.” How would you respond to that statement?

    Michelle Chavez's avatar
    Michelle Chavez 10/13/2020 8:55 AM
I strongly believe that the main issue is the food distribution, there are tons of food waste all over the world specially in the USA
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Water Fix Leaky Faucets
Fixing leaky faucets is one of the tasks that we can easily put off until later. Good job on completing this action! How will you use the momentum from completing this action to increase your water efficiency in other ways?
