Natalie Haney 10/28/2020 4:41 AMToday is Day 22....I hope everyone had an amazing journey! -
Natalie Haney 10/27/2020 5:48 AMSugar: after each meal I would crave something sweet. I realized yesterday that was not the case anymore. That is a HUGE milestone for me. Next goal....get my son off sugar. -
Natalie Haney 10/26/2020 6:31 AMOne of my goals is to reduce refined sugar. I knew I was consuming sugar but I did not know how much. WOW. I am to the point where I am eating only about 5g per day. In the beginning, my head hurt a lot. After a day or so of no sugar it went away. I feel much better. -
Natalie Haney 10/22/2020 7:57 AMHello and Happy Learning everyone. I am focused on environmental degradation today. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth Learn About Local Environmental Justice ConcernsWho is most affected by environmental degradation and/or environmental irresponsiblity in your community? How are they affected?
Natalie Haney 10/22/2020 7:40 AMWe know environmental degradation impacts us, plants, animals and mirco-organisms. Some natural degradation occurs but us continually building is the main cause in my opinion. Changes like global warming and climate change is increasing the opportunity for natural disasters, farming issues and even health issues. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth Exercise DailyHow can you incorporate other personal values (like quality time with friends or spending time in nature) into your exercise routine?
Natalie Haney 10/22/2020 7:34 AMI have to be very intentional with this because life can get really full with organizing, working, just doing tasks to keep the household together that I sometimes forget the importance of quality time. To help, I have my son to put his phone done during dinner time and during car rides so we can talk. My husband and I schedule quality time together and with the family doing outdoor activities to get moving. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth Take ControlHow do environmental health, community health, and your personal health intersect?
Natalie Haney 10/22/2020 7:32 AMThe quality of the environment impacts community and personal health. is the environment is full of toxins for example then everyone is impacted. Local leaders should consistently assist with educating their communities things to do and stop doing to help the environment and connect that to their personal health. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONAction Track: Justice for the Whole Community Watch a Documentary about Racial InjusticeWhat did you learn about racial injustice in the documentary(ies) you watched? How does what you learned connect to your understanding of sustainability?
Natalie Haney 10/22/2020 7:30 AMTo be completely transparent, I was unsure of the connection. I learned that automatic voter registration and publicly funded elections could help with voices from people of color being heard. This helps putting democracy in the hands of all, not just wealthy businesses and the rich. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONAction Track: Justice for the Whole Community Research Voter SuppressionWhat are the ways in which voters are prohibited from or discouraged from voting in your region and/or state? What could be done to get rid of these barriers?
Natalie Haney 10/22/2020 7:25 AMRecently, members of my church have reported receiving threatening letters if they vote in this year's presidential election. Voter registration information can be easily found online. I would like to see that information redacted or removed from public access. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONAction Track: Justice for the Whole Community Learn More and AdvocateHow do the differences in access to reliable transportation affect your community? What would you like to see change?
Natalie Haney 10/22/2020 7:23 AMProper healthcare is an area in the community that is impacted when reliable transportation is not available. For example, people miss important doctor's appointments for preventative care or in case of illness. I would like to lower cost options for public transportation and more routes to reduce wait time.
