REFLECTION QUESTIONCommunity Raise Money For a NonprofitHow do/can Ecochallenge.org programs help you develop a stronger sense of community?
Catherine Holsapple 10/18/2020 11:38 PMI am humbled to share the good news that EcoChallenge is setting positive goals as well as educating youth across the world about the situations we face in helping this world assess its own sustainability patterns. -
Catherine Holsapple 10/15/2020 11:51 AMMy EcoChallenge has added so much more positivity into my life! I am going to continue practicing my daily goals even if they are marked as complete. Mental health, service to others, and doing my part in composting and helping the earth has overall created a more positive atmosphere for myself living on the dorms. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth HappinessHow does/can practicing gratitude keep you centered and motivated to work for a better world?
Catherine Holsapple 10/11/2020 11:26 PMI wrote down a list of over 50 things, actually, that I am grateful for. I review this list and even add to it every single day. Though I slightly modified (or enhanced) the expectations of this goal, I have definitely noticed that it has affected my happiness to some degree. During this lonely and difficult season of changes in my life, it is extremely helpful for my to see this list hanging up literally right next to my bed and to thank God for the beautiful opportunities I have in life. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONAction Track: Healing and Renewal Go for a Daily Walk OutsideFresh air and movement are good for our entire being and can help us think more clearly and creatively. How does taking a walk each day affect yourself and/or your work?
Catherine Holsapple 10/11/2020 11:24 PMI took 3 walks this week, and the EcoChallenge started about 4 days ago. I missed one day! However, I am very proud of myself being able to over some my anxiety, laziness, and fear of judgement and to step out of my comfort zone. I live on the Oregon State campus and it was wonderful to see the beautiful architecture and courtyards on campus! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONCommunity Engage In Active ListeningWhat was it like to actively listen to someone? How did both people and the conversation(s) benefit from active listening?
Catherine Holsapple 10/11/2020 11:22 PMI engaged in an hour and a half long conversation with my mother this week. It was over the phone, as we now live 2 hours apart, and we have been avoiding talking and not getting along for almost a month. It was nice to talk about simple things, about positive things, rather than just politics and things we disagreed on. She even got emotional about how proud she is of me. It was good to be open to listening to her and further growing our relationship. -
Catherine Holsapple 9/29/2020 1:48 AMHello! I am Cat, a part of Jen Myer's Sustainability EcoChallenge team. I am very excited to partake on this journey of bettering our planet. If I am happy with the progress I've made during this challenge, I will definitely encourage family/friends to participate in the future!
