REFLECTION QUESTIONAction Track: Healing and Renewal Nurture Self-CompassionHow can nurturing your Self-Compassion also nurture healthier relationships with others and the environment?
Jeanell Innerarity 10/23/2020 10:08 AMWhen I nurture self-compassion, I am kinder to myself and others. I don't push myself towards burnout and I am able to be supportive of others. It's surprising how ingrained in our culture it is to be kind to others yet incredibly mean to yourself! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Weekly Meal PlanningAn average American throws out about 240 lbs of food per year. The average family of four in the US spends $1,500 a year on food that they throw out. Does this surprise you? Where would you rather use this money?
Jeanell Innerarity 10/22/2020 4:50 PMThis does not surprise me at all. I think that people are so busy they sometimes fail to prepare food they buy, food is sold in proportions that have nothing to do with the consumer, food is marketed to encourage people to buy rather than to meet nutritional needs at the amount someone needs and not more, and many Americans have the sense that food is easily and readily available. Many Americans are also disconnected from the human and environmental resources which go into the food that's wasted. The $1,500 should go towards providing nutritious meals for those who can't afford to waste food. And, longer range, towards a cooperative model of growing and distributing food so fair wage is present throughout the supply chain.
