Julia's actions
Waste
Skip the Straw
Do at Home
Plastic bags and small plastic pieces like straws are most likely to get swept into our waterways. I will keep 1 plastic straw(s) out of the landfill and ocean each day by refusing straws or using my own glass/metal straw.
Waste
Use a Reusable Water Bottle
Do at Home
I will keep 1 disposable plastic bottle(s) from entering the waste stream by using a reusable water bottle.
Health
More Fruits and Veggies
Do at Home
I will eat a heart healthy diet by adding 2 cup(s) of fruits and vegetables each day to achieve at least 4 cups per day.
Health
Happiness
Do at Home
I will write down three things every day that I am grateful for, or send one email every day thanking or praising someone.
Food
Buy From a Farmers Market
Do at Home
I will purchase produce and meat from a local farmers market or food co-op.
Food
Locally-Sourced Meals

I will source 1 meal(s) each day from local producers.

REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth More Fruits and VeggiesHow does eating more fruits and vegetables and less meat positively affect yourself, other people, and our planet?
Julia Kovtoun 10/09/2020 6:32 PMIt allows me to eat a more balanced diet which is good for my health. It also allows me to buy less animal products which limits the pressure put on our planet through mass meat production. I also hate the way that animals are treated in large scale meat plants (or any meat plants really) so I want to help diminish their abuse. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth HappinessHow does/can practicing gratitude keep you centered and motivated to work for a better world?
Julia Kovtoun 10/09/2020 6:30 PMIt's very easy to get down on yourself and the world around you when you focus on the negative. Practicing gratitude helps keep me in a positive mindset which helps motivate me to improve both my own circumstances as well as the world around me.
