Core Values
Do at Home
We may find more meaning and joy in life when our actions are aligned with our personal values. I will determine what my top 3-5 core values are so that I can better align my actions with them.
Action Track: Justice for the Whole Community
Support Native Communities
Do at Home
I will use the resource links provided and spend 30 minutes learning about the native populations that lived in my area prior to colonization, and what I can do to support those that still exist.
Transportation
Stay on the Ground
Do at Home
Instead of traveling by plane, I will find an alternative way to accomplish the goals of an upcoming trip (i.e. telepresence, vacation locally).
Simplicity
Meditate
Do at Home
I will meditate or create a moment of silence for 10 minute(s) each day to reflect on things important to me.
Health
Forgiveness
Do at Home
I will begin, or continue, on the journey of forgiving myself and/or other(s). I may do this through journaling, meditation, prayer, and/or talking with a licensed healthcare professional.

REFLECTION QUESTIONAction Track: Justice for the Whole Community Support Native CommunitiesIndigenous speaker and activist Winona LaDuke says that, "most indigenous ceremonies, if you look to their essence, are about the restoration of balance — they are a reaffirmation of our relationship to creation. That is our intent: to restore, and then to retain balance and honor our part in creation." Why is balance important to sustainability?
Phoebe Krueger 10/28/2020 8:39 AMIf we are able to achieve and maintain balance, we honor nature by preserving it for future generations and all forms of life. -

Phoebe Krueger 10/27/2020 8:52 AMIt feels like an emotional weight has been lifted and my stress level has dropped. Forgiveness is a powerful exercise. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONSimplicity Go for a Daily Walk OutsideFresh air and movement are good for our entire being and can help us think more clearly and creatively. How does taking a walk each day affect yourself and/or your work?
Phoebe Krueger 10/27/2020 8:48 AMI walk to get a latte most mornings and it's a great way to wake up and feel more energized for the day. It's also a nice way to see more of my neighborhood. -
Phoebe Krueger 10/26/2020 9:16 AMIt's awesome to get EcoChallenge points for my morning coffee walk! It definitely helps me resist the urge to take my car, even if it's cold or raining. -
Phoebe Krueger 10/26/2020 9:15 AMI am happy the EcoChallenge has helped me add meditation back into my routine. It has a calming effort and helps me better manage stress. -
Phoebe Krueger 10/22/2020 8:29 AMThe EcoChallenge helps me think about my actions and goals each year. It gives me the opportunity to pause and think about how I impact the earth and my community. It also allows me to reflect on how I can simplify my life and practice self care. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONSimplicity Core ValuesWhat are your top 3-5 core values? How did you narrow it down to those as being your core values?
Phoebe Krueger 10/22/2020 8:27 AMI decided to focus on two core values: self improvement and building community. Many of the decisions I make are driven by these two priorities, so it was not to challenging to determine core values when I applied that criteria. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONTransportation Stay on the GroundWhat was your process like for restructuring your trip? How can you avoid more air travel in the future?
Phoebe Krueger 10/21/2020 9:48 AMI picked a lot of my favorite things to do in Portland for my staycation and spent time with my family. It was a lot of fun and saved money, too!
