Sabrina Marter 10/26/2020 10:51 AMGratitude is easier than I had expected. I guess I was already doing this but not necessarily with writing it down. The new website to research seafood choices has been great. I have always struggled with making good choices for that. Seafood industry is not part of my knowledge base but I am changing that now. The self compassion is still a bit illusive. I have read over some articles, tried some meditations and other practices and nothing really sticks yet. That will likely be the hardest to stick with once the challenge is done. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Smart Seafood ChoicesMany states and countries have advisories on eating fish. Find out what is advised for your region. Do you think your diet choices fall within these guidelines? What steps do you need to take to make sure that they do?
Sabrina Marter 10/17/2020 6:49 PMI work hard to buy local and support local. With the current recommendations in my local area I have identified private, individual fishermen to support with my purchase of fresh sustainable seafood harvested as humanely and sustainably as possible. I found the cost was very close to what I had been paying at a grocery store. The inconvenience of driving to the coast to make a purchase was an easily overcome hurdle. I found a local friend heading over to make a purchase for her family and got her to deliver mine to me. By having only one family make the trip and purchase for a couple families we also reduced car travel that would add to the environmental cost of the purchase. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONAction Track: Healing and Renewal Nurture Self-CompassionHow can nurturing your Self-Compassion also nurture healthier relationships with others and the environment?
Sabrina Marter 10/17/2020 6:45 PMBy having self compassion it makes you more aware of ways to be compassionate to others as well. When you look critically at yourself and then offer grace you learn to see that others also need that grace. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONAction Track: Healing and Renewal Research Restorative JusticeHow can Restorative Justice help foster the well-being of both people and planet?
Sabrina Marter 10/17/2020 6:43 PMRestorative justice offers an opportunity for offenders to reconcile with victims or make property repairs to help clean up some of the damage done. By having offenders actively involved in the "clean up" process they are also working toward personal change and healing. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONAction Track: Healing and Renewal HappinessHow does/can practicing gratitude keep you centered and motivated to work for a better world?
Sabrina Marter 10/17/2020 6:41 PMBeing grateful for what I have helps me want less and be less of a consumer. It has also really made me realize what I have that many other people do not.
