Janet's actions
Nature
Go for a Daily Walk
Do at Home
I will take a 30-minute walk outside each day.
Transportation
Drive Less
Do at Home
I will cut my car trip mileage by only taking necessary trips.
Nature
Plant Trees
Do at Home
I will plant 1 tree(s) in my community, public parks, or backyard.
Health
Know My Health
I will get my Core Four Biometrics tests (blood pressure, cholesterol, blood sugar and BMI).
Health
Go Get a Check Up
I will make an appointment for my annual physical.
Food
Meet My Local Farmers
I will visit my nearest farm to find out who produces my food, and will learn about the quality of life of those around the world who produce my food in order to make better choices when I shop.
Water
5-Minute Showers
Do at Home
I will save up to 20 gallons (75 L) of water each day by taking 5-minute showers.
Transportation
Stay on the Ground
Do at Home
Instead of traveling by plane, I will find an alternative way to accomplish the goals of an upcoming trip (i.e. telepresence, vacation locally).
Waste
Reduce Single-Use Disposables
Do at Home
Historically, marginalized and low-income communities live closer to landfills, contributing to a multitude of health problems. I will find out how I can limit single-use items and do my best to limit the waste I generate. I will keep 2 container(s) out of the landfill each day.
Waste
Use Reusable Bags
If at all possible, I will not accept any disposable bags when making purchases.
Waste
Learn About & Practice Sustainable Fashion
Do at Home
I will spend 60 minutes learning about sustainable fashion and begin trying to practice it in my own life.

Janet Misiti 10/19/2020 4:40 AMI organized my house yesterday, tossing a lot of old things I didn't need. I thought twice about how I could recycle some of the items. It was a great feeling to take a further step to keep plastic out of landfill. -

REFLECTION QUESTIONTransportation Stay on the GroundWhat was your process like for restructuring your trip? How can you avoid more air travel in the future?
Janet Misiti 10/08/2020 6:45 AMWe usually fly to our summer home as it is over 900 miles away, but driving is not that bad. It gives some time for reflection and deep thinking as the miles pass by. As long as I have the time I will continue to drive there.
