Core Values
Do at Home
We may find more meaning and joy in life when our actions are aligned with our personal values. I will determine what my top 3-5 core values are so that I can better align my actions with them.

REFLECTION QUESTIONAction Track: Healing and Renewal Learn About Constructive CommunicationHow can you, your loved ones, the community, and environment all benefit from constructive communication?
Jennifer Morrocco 10/28/2020 9:46 AMThis has been an ongoing effort to enhance communication with those in my life. So many of us are ineffective at both identifying and conveying our emotional responses to others and it ends up perpetuating stereotypes, fostering hurt, and creating wedges. By learning to constructively communicate, by taking ownership of my experiences and feelings and conveying those clearly, and also helping others to do the same I hope to help heal my little corner of the world. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONTransportation Research and Consider Switching to a Hybrid or Electric VehicleReducing (or eliminating) exhaust emissions and improving public health are two benefits of green vehicles. What other motivators inspire you to consider switching to a more fuel-efficient vehicle?
Jennifer Morrocco 10/28/2020 9:35 AMWe have an older car in our household and we have been researching how and when to replace it, trying to balance the resource use inherent in purchasing a new vehicle, versus maintaining the one we have. At this time, the environmental impact is less if we continue to drive our older car, but when that changes, we intend to shift to a hybrid or electric model. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONAction Track: Healing and Renewal Core ValuesWhat are your top 3-5 core values? How did you narrow it down to those as being your core values?
Jennifer Morrocco 10/28/2020 9:27 AMThis is an activity that I've been meaning to complete for a while, and the included resources were helpful in providing some direction. Filtering through the values I think I *should* have versus the values I really want to focus on proved the biggest challenge! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONNature Go for a Daily WalkHow do you experience your neighborhood or city differently when walking instead of driving?
Jennifer Morrocco 10/28/2020 9:19 AMI have a much better sense of my neighbors and the space around me. I'm much more likely to learn something new and special about a place than when I'm otherwise just driving through. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONSimplicity Work-Life BalanceHow might practicing work-life balance lead to a more sustainable life for yourself? How might it contribute to sustainability more broadly?
Jennifer Morrocco 10/23/2020 3:42 PMDays when I keep to a schedule (however flexible that might be), I benefit from having more space in my day to take care of myself and my family. Inevitably I end up slowing down in other areas and finding that I'm more thoughtful and intentional about the choices I make overall. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Smart Seafood ChoicesMany states and countries have advisories on eating fish. Find out what is advised for your region. Do you think your diet choices fall within these guidelines? What steps do you need to take to make sure that they do?
Jennifer Morrocco 10/20/2020 8:34 AMI don't consume large amounts of seafood, and try to be aware of how/where the fish is sourced, but the broader implications of each of those choices is something I hadn't dug into. I think I have some work to do - including some consideration about my 'go-to' seafood choices, and researching the practices of the local businesses where I'm most likely to purchase. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Plant an Herb GardenConsider the ways you can garden: a plot of land? a patio container? hanging basket? windowsill gardens? What would work best for your living situation and lifestyle?
Jennifer Morrocco 10/19/2020 3:54 PMPlanted a mini herb garden in a bucket that can be brought indoors as the whether changes. Harvested parsley last night! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONNature Explore My AreaHow can spending more time outdoors enhance your sense of place -- your deep knowledge of and appreciation for your surroundings?
Jennifer Morrocco 10/19/2020 8:31 AMI have two young puppies right now, and every new (to them) place we explore is a reminder to see things with fresh eyes. I may have been there 1,000 times, but it's different every time. There's always something new to see. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth ForgivenessHow has the process of forgiving, or contemplating forgiveness, benefited you?
Jennifer Morrocco 10/19/2020 8:28 AMIt helps bring to light the negative emotions I haven't actively processed yet, and move through to a healthier place. It's hard. It's super hard. But it's worth it. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth Exercise DailyHow can you incorporate other personal values (like quality time with friends or spending time in nature) into your exercise routine?
Jennifer Morrocco 10/06/2020 1:27 PMPhysical activity has been harder to budget during COVID, and at-home fitness isn’t where I’m most motivated. With this 30 minutes I commit to finding new outdoor places to explore whenever possible.
