June Myrick
"For this ECO challenge the Fall of 2020, I plan on focusing on my health and home. With the stay at home orders due to Covid 19 I think concentrating on physical and mental health is something that both myself and those around me can benefit from."

Community
Support Comerica's National Day of Service
As an extension to Comerica's National Day of Service in September, consider conducting a virtual volunteer action that supports our communities. Since there are no organized in-person river, beach or lake clean-ups in most communities this year, if you would like, you can consider cleaning up around your house and neighborhood to support your local environment as neighborhood storm drains commonly drain to local water bodies. Please do not invite others outside of your household if you choose this action.
Health
Go Get a Check Up
I will make an appointment for my annual physical.

REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth Exercise DailyHow can you incorporate other personal values (like quality time with friends or spending time in nature) into your exercise routine?
June Myrick 10/26/2020 5:50 PMI love to get exercise outside and enjoy my surroundings. My husband and I have begun riding our bikes together; through our neighborhood and at the beach. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONAction Track: Healing and Renewal Practice Gratitude for EarthKathleen Dean Moore says that a sense of gratitude leads to a sense of moral obligation. Do you agree? How can we cultivate a sense of gratitude as individuals, and as a society?
June Myrick 10/26/2020 5:42 PMI think when you take a few moments to appreciate nature you develop a deeper sense of appreciation. It makes you want to nurture and take care of it.

REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Reduce Animal ProductsWhy do people in richer countries eat more meat than people in other places? How does eating more meat affect our planet and other people?
June Myrick 10/24/2020 10:28 AMI think people want quick and easy. Fast food restaurants have many more meat options than non meat options, although it is getting better. Fast food wrappers and containers account for most of the street trash on the street in my area. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth Practice Loving-Kindness MeditationHow can practicing Loving-Kindness Meditation be helpful to the health of the environment?
June Myrick 10/10/2020 10:54 AMA healthy mind translates into health actions. Meditation is not always easy. I find early mornings are the best for me, before my mind gets cluttered with the activities of the day.-
Mari-Lynn Flaig 10/10/2020 3:54 PMI'm finding just the opposite is true. I wake up with a long list of things to do in my head, so it's been almost impossible to disconnect in the mornings. I have been going to bed earlier lately, watching the sunset, and as it goes down I clear my mind of everything from the day, and give thanks for all we have.

REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth Healthy SleepConsider how many hours of sleep you get now. How would you like to shift your sleep patterns? What are you finding works for you to be successful in this action?
June Myrick 10/10/2020 10:46 AMWhat works best for me is to wind down prior to going to bed, shutting off lights, the TV and devices. Clearing my mind and trying to stick to a set bed time within an hour. When I get good sleep even when it is disrupted some times, my mind set is so much more positive and clear. It really is worth the effort to get that additional 30 minutes of rest. -
June Myrick 10/08/2020 8:43 AMIn this time of so much stress and negative dialog, I find meditation with all positive thoughts very helpful. I focus on what I have to be thankful for and the love I have for family, friends and my pets. -
