REFLECTION QUESTIONAction Track: Justice for the Whole Community Watch a Documentary about Food SovereigntyHow does food sovereignty address the complex transition from localized food systems to modern global food systems?
Kevin Oversluizen 10/27/2020 1:42 AMWatched Super-Size me 2: Holy Chicken. Even though it is a very American Doc I can imagine it being comparable worldwide. One of the reasons I want to keep buying meat from local farmers so you know better where it comes from. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONEnergy Choose LED BulbsSwitching out your lightbulbs is an excellent first step toward energy efficiency! In what other ways can you exercise your civic duty to protect the environment and reduce carbon emissions?
Kevin Oversluizen 10/27/2020 1:39 AMMoving in means getting to pick out stuff and buying lightbulbs so might as well make sure it is efficient and clean. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Zero-Waste CookingIn North America, up to 65% of food waste happens at the consumer level. Chef Steven Satterfield advocates for using every part of a vegetable. How can you incorporate using an entire vegetable (including the skins, tops, stalks, etc.) during your next meal prep?
Kevin Oversluizen 10/27/2020 1:36 AMBeing more aware of what I am buying and what I am cooking. Making sure I only prepare amounts what we are eating. And also preparing extra food and freezing it so I have food during stand up meetings for example. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Locally-Sourced MealsIf you were to only eat what is in season locally from now on, what would be the most difficult food item for you to give up? Why?
Kevin Oversluizen 10/27/2020 1:33 AMSince this month I am getting my ingredients from local sources. Because of Dutch technology don't really need to miss out on something since we produces almost everything in greenhouses. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth Go Get a Check UpHow do you practice self care?
Kevin Oversluizen 10/27/2020 1:32 AMNeeded to get a check-up for a while and finally arranged one with my GP. All healthy btw! :) -
REFLECTION QUESTIONEnergy Choose Clean/Renewable EnergyHow might you be able to get others involved in advocating for the shift to clean energy?
Kevin Oversluizen 10/27/2020 1:31 AMThis one was easy since I just moved in to my new apartment I still needed to get a new provider. And chose one that only delivers Green/clean energy. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONEnergy Turn It OffHow is electricity generated where you live? How does it impact the environment, animals, and humans?
Kevin Oversluizen 10/27/2020 1:28 AMAlso contributed to bringing down my energy use for this month. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONSimplicity Research My Investment PortfolioIn what ways can you increase the positive impacts and decrease the negative impacts of your financial investments?
Kevin Oversluizen 10/27/2020 1:25 AMTried investing some time in seeing how my portfolio looked. And surprisingly I was already investing a lot in green/clean energy companies. Even shifted my portfolio a bit more in that direction which is also good for the value of my portfolio. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth Exercise DailyHow can you incorporate other personal values (like quality time with friends or spending time in nature) into your exercise routine?
Kevin Oversluizen 10/27/2020 1:23 AMIt felt great going to the gym on a regular basis again. Especially in these Corona times it helped me stay focused and healthy. And hopefully boosts my immune system a bit. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONEnergy Adjust the ThermostatYour utility company is able to tell you your average energy usage. Ask them how your energy usage compares to others in your ZIP code, region, and/or state. What other steps can you take each day to reduce your electricity usage?
Kevin Oversluizen 10/27/2020 1:20 AMIt was easier as expected. Wearing a hoodie/sweater helps a lot. And it resulted that our energy bill is below average in comparison to same sized households.
