It has been a great challenge! I learned a lot and will continue to do my part going forward :)
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food Choose Organic Ingredients
Many people say that “you can’t feed the world with just organic food.” How would you respond to that statement?

It is harder during the winter months in colder climate - but prepping and storing/canning are great ways to come around this!
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food Zero-Waste Cooking
In North America, up to 65% of food waste happens at the consumer level. Chef Steven Satterfield advocates for using every part of a vegetable. How can you incorporate using an entire vegetable (including the skins, tops, stalks, etc.) during your next meal prep?

Made chicken stock from scratch using left over veggies I had. Came out great!

I thought cooking zero waste meals would be difficult, but it has been much easier than I thought! Lots of veggies and home cooked meals, which is also saving me on eating out.

  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Waste Use a Reusable Mug
Maybe you've heard how good it is to switch from a single use coffee cup to a reusable one, but it's just hard to make the switch. What stands in your way of making this a habit? By identifying the challenges, you can begin to work through them to have better success in taking this action. Knowing the difference you are making, how does it make you feel?

working from home know, makes it much easier to use a reusable mug.  Also, with COVID, most coffee places that normally allow you to use your own refillable mug are not allowing this for now.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Waste Use a Reusable Water Bottle
While water bottles are needed for health and safety in certain places, we can do more to reduce the unnecessary use of them. What are the barriers to you using reusable bottles and tap water instead of bottled water? How could you make this a permanent habit?

For people who have well water, a barrier would be having access to clean drinking water. You could install a  water filter to help with this, or get larger refillable water jugs to use instead.
