REFLECTION QUESTIONAction Track: Healing and Renewal Engage In Active ListeningWhat was it like to actively listen to someone? How did both people and the conversation(s) benefit from active listening?
Adrienne Petrovic 10/28/2020 4:24 PMIt was interesting to actually think about and essentially do active listening because I usually would just listen without thinking much about it. The conversation benefitted because it not only showed interest from my side but it also helped validate what they were saying through questions asked. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONAction Track: Justice for the Whole Community Research Voter SuppressionWhat are the ways in which voters are prohibited from or discouraged from voting in your region and/or state? What could be done to get rid of these barriers?
Adrienne Petrovic 10/28/2020 4:22 PMI found a great website that tries to fight any discriminations that might come about through voting. For example, they work to provide fair rights though educational materials, work at the legislature, and legal challenges to unconstitutional voting policies. They also have great resources for Transgenders and resources available in Spanish. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONNature Plant TreesHow is planting trees good for your mental, physical, and spiritual health?
Adrienne Petrovic 10/28/2020 12:23 PMPlanting trees helps me know that I am making a big impact for our environment. It helps with air quality, gives people and animals shade, connects you more with mother nature, etc. -
Adrienne Petrovic 10/28/2020 7:10 AM"How wonderful it is that nobody need wait a single moment before starting to improve the world." - Anne Frank -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth Learn More about Food ApartheidWhat can lack of access to nutritious food affect a community? How can having access to nutritious food help a community become more resilient?
Adrienne Petrovic 10/27/2020 5:08 PMIt can cause high rates of medical issues, such as diabetes. Having access to fresh foods can help the community become resilient and stronger together. This is done by becoming healthier and learning the many benefits of healthy food. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Join a Local CSADependable fresh food, better prices (cutting out carbon-heavy supply chain and grocery stores), supporting local farmers and building resilient communities are just a few benefits of local food systems. Which of these benefits (or others not listed here) inspires you the most?
Adrienne Petrovic 10/27/2020 5:01 PMThere are sooo many amazing benefits which I love very much! The benefits that inspire me the most are the fact that my family and I are getting fresh, organic produce while supporting local farmers. It can't get any better than that! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONEnergy Calculate the Carbon Footprint of my HouseholdAfter you determined your carbon footprint, did you see what different choices you can make in order to reduce it?
Adrienne Petrovic 10/27/2020 4:24 PMThere are many ways we can reduce our carbon footprint by either driving less by carpooling, riding bikes, etc. Another way we already implement is being a vegan household. Not only is it great for the environment, but also for your health and the environment! After being vegan for four years, I can surely attest to this! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONAction Track: Justice for the Whole Community Learn About Local Environmental Justice ConcernsWho is most affected by environmental degradation and/or environmental irresponsiblity in your community? How are they affected?
Adrienne Petrovic 10/27/2020 4:09 PMI was able to find information about environmental justice in Idaho and what Idaho is doing to prevent any unfair treatment. One large category consisted of Tribes and the vast majority of programs and grants available. For example, there is a grant that helps build tribal knowledge and increases tribes' capacity to manage air quality issues. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONNature Learn About the Impact of Old RefrigerantsWhy are old refrigerant gases so harmful to our environment?
Adrienne Petrovic 10/27/2020 3:53 PMAfter doing research, which was very interesting, it stated that older refrigerants are harmful to the ozone layer and contribute to global warming because of fluorocarbons and chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs) refrigerants. The good news is that a newer version of refrigerant is developed which is not as harmful to our environment and is more efficient. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONAction Track: Healing and Renewal Core ValuesWhat are your top 3-5 core values? How did you narrow it down to those as being your core values?
