REFLECTION QUESTIONCommunity Connect with a NonprofitWhat inspires you to act toward a more sustainable community?
Katrin Tomova 10/21/2020 7:15 AMWhat inspires me? Every little creature, every leaf, every tree, the nature which surrounds us every day inspires me to work and act toward a more sustainable community -
REFLECTION QUESTIONEnergy Power Down the ComputerWhat are other easy things you could do to save energy and reduce your environmental footprint?
Katrin Tomova 10/21/2020 7:09 AMTurn off the lights, take shorter showers, be mindful about your everyday choices, choose local products which have not travelled from too far, reuse and many others. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONNature Go for a Daily WalkHow do you experience your neighborhood or city differently when walking instead of driving?
Katrin Tomova 10/21/2020 7:06 AMIt's completely different. I loooove walking, especially now when I moved to a new neighborhood. It's such a nice moment for myself where I can just explore new streets and corners every time. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONEnergy Choose LED BulbsSwitching out your lightbulbs is an excellent first step toward energy efficiency! In what other ways can you exercise your civic duty to protect the environment and reduce carbon emissions?
Katrin Tomova 10/21/2020 7:05 AMYou can also choose public transport over the car or ride a bike. I always try to use those greener options and prefer them when possible. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth More Fruits and VeggiesHow does eating more fruits and vegetables and less meat positively affect yourself, other people, and our planet?
Katrin Tomova 10/13/2020 6:07 AMI have been reducing my meat consumption for the past 3-4 years and I feel great. I don't feel like I need it and was able to find so many new and interesting ways to cook and prepare my daily meals. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Meet My Local FarmersWhen you know who produces your food, you are connecting personally to your complex regional food system. What are the advantages of knowing who produces your food and where it comes from? How can knowing their food producers enable someone to advocate for a better quality of life for those who produce their food, both near and far?
Katrin Tomova 10/13/2020 6:06 AMMeeting my local farmers and knowing where my food is coming from is of crucial importance to me. I have joined a food cooperative 5 years ago and I have been going to farmers' markets, talking to producers and joining their events ever since and I must say that I love it! Not only that I have been choosing seasonal products, but I have also tried and experimented with food which I have never tried before. In addition, I have met great young people who have decided to become farmers and are dedicating their lives to this and I want to support them because I am grateful for their hard work and incredibly delicious fruits, vegetables, yogurt, bread and many others. The only downside is that I am now too picky and spoiled when it comes to choosing my food and I always want to know where it's coming from and how it was produced ;) -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Choose Organic IngredientsMany people say that “you can’t feed the world with just organic food.” How would you respond to that statement?
Katrin Tomova 10/13/2020 5:57 AMMany people say that “you can’t feed the world with just organic food"... and yes, it is probably true, because organic requires more land and more manual effort, but I also think that the food industry and the way it looks today is somehow completely wrong. We need to know where our food is coming from and how it was produced, we need to think about the future and not focus on monoculture which is bad for the soil, we need to diversify and be aware. It doesn't have to be all organic, but it needs to be sustainable...
