Waste
Choose Two-Sided Printing
Do at Home
I will save up to .21 lbs (.09 kg) of paper per day by switching from one-sided printing to two-sided when I have to print documents.
Waste
Use a Reusable Mug
Do at Home
I will avoid sending 1 disposable cup(s) to the landfill each day by using a reusable mug.
Waste
Skip the Straw
Do at Home
Plastic bags and small plastic pieces like straws are most likely to get swept into our waterways. I will keep 1 plastic straw(s) out of the landfill and ocean each day by refusing straws or using my own glass/metal straw.

Do at Home
I will watch 2 documentary(ies) about systemic racism.
Community
Research Voter Suppression

I will spend at least 45 minutes finding out what local laws, policies, and practices keep people from voting in my community.
Health
Reduce Refined Sugar
Do at Home
I will adopt a diet free of refined sugars, which eliminates sweetened beverages, candy, and processed foods.
Health

REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth Reduce Refined SugarBefore you started this challenge, did you think you were 'addicted' to sugar? How do you feel now?
Hannah Wagster 10/29/2020 9:09 AMI think I used it as a caffeine, it is so hard for me not to crave sugar. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONCommunity Research Voter SuppressionWhat are the ways in which voters are prohibited from or discouraged from voting in your region and/or state? What could be done to get rid of these barriers?
Hannah Wagster 10/29/2020 9:09 AMI think definitely the problem with felony disenfranchisement laws continue that have a much greater impact on voters of color. Much reformation would need to be put in these systems to protect voters. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWaste Choose Two-Sided PrintingChoosing two-sided printing can be an easy adjustment on your computer settings. How can you help others make this same switch? Can it be encouraged company wide?
Hannah Wagster 10/27/2020 7:15 PMI have told my family to all do the same! It could be encouraged as making it a priority question! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWaste Skip the StrawHow could you incorporate other "R's" -- reduce, reuse, refuse, repair, repurpose, etc. -- into your lifestyle?
Hannah Wagster 10/27/2020 7:14 PMI am going to really try to make things last, I think of all the unessecary things that we take like plastic bags when shopping. I have tried to not use bags and either bring my own, or just carry my items. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWaste Use a Reusable MugMaybe you've heard how good it is to switch from a single use coffee cup to a reusable one, but it's just hard to make the switch. What stands in your way of making this a habit? By identifying the challenges, you can begin to work through them to have better success in taking this action. Knowing the difference you are making, how does it make you feel?
Hannah Wagster 10/27/2020 7:13 PMI think going out in getting coffee makes it harder, I have tried to go out less and drink what I have at home! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth HappinessHow does/can practicing gratitude keep you centered and motivated to work for a better world?
Hannah Wagster 10/27/2020 7:12 PMIt truly helps with motivation to want to better yourself and to promote happiness in the world around you.
