Why do people in richer countries eat more meat than people in other places? How does eating more meat affect our planet and other people?

I think a lot of the idea behind eating meat regularly in richer countries comes from the accessibility to it, and the funding provided to large companies to create/run facilities out of which they can produce meat that goes to grocery stores. Real farmed meats take longer and are more costly to the average single farmer. Eating meat affects our planet by releasing more methane from the animals and various chemicals from the finishing processes into the atmosphere, taking up vast miles of arable land that could be viable for other activities, and overall isn't great for health if eaten daily - particularly red meats. Other groups of people are affected by being the low-income workers in the factories or on the farms, through the packaging and waste being brought to their shores from other places, and anyone who lives close to farming facilities may experience adverse health affects from them.
