REFLECTION QUESTIONTransportation Stay on the GroundWhat was your process like for restructuring your trip? How can you avoid more air travel in the future?
Tyler Wilson 10/28/2020 10:04 AMI restructured my plans to fly home for Thanksgiving. In order to do this, I had to coordinate with a friend to come pick me up. Although this will not be a possibility for 100% of my trips home, I will take advantage of my friends' free time and coordinate fun and more eco-friendly trips whenever I can. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth Reduce Refined SugarBefore you started this challenge, did you think you were 'addicted' to sugar? How do you feel now?
Tyler Wilson 10/28/2020 10:01 AMI definitely viewed myself as being "addicted" to sugar. After a few days of going sugar-free, I find it easier to carve my cravings. I used to supplement every meal with something sweet, but I am finding easier to avoid this. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONEnergy Switch to Cold WaterWhat do you plan to do with the money you save from making more energy efficient choices?
Tyler Wilson 10/28/2020 9:59 AMI won't directly save any money from making this efficient energy choice. That being said, if a majority of WashU students switched to cold water, the university would save a significant amount of money that they could put towards more sustainable forms of energy such as solar power. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONCommunity Research Voter SuppressionWhat are the ways in which voters are prohibited from or discouraged from voting in your region and/or state? What could be done to get rid of these barriers?
Tyler Wilson 10/28/2020 9:58 AMOne thing that dissuades people from voting in my state is the insanely long lines at polling locations. More convenient and efficient voting locations have large potential to increase voter turnout. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONAction Track: Healing and Renewal Core ValuesWhat are your top 3-5 core values? How did you narrow it down to those as being your core values?
Tyler Wilson 10/28/2020 9:56 AMMy top core values are independence, compassion, happiness, and balance. I narrowed down these core values by thinking of a few things I am passionate about and try to emulate in my daily life. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONNature Go for a Daily WalkHow do you experience your neighborhood or city differently when walking instead of driving?
Tyler Wilson 10/21/2020 11:06 AMWhen I'm walking, I feel more inclined to take in all of my surroundings, something that is nearly impossible when I'm driving. I am able to appreciate the little things, such as the sounds of nature and the smell of the fresh air. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONAction Track: Healing and Renewal HappinessHow does/can practicing gratitude keep you centered and motivated to work for a better world?
Tyler Wilson 10/21/2020 11:04 AMPracticing gratitude daily can help you reflect on what really matters in your life. Taking time to write down what you are grateful for can give purpose to your daily tasks, and make you healthier and more efficient overall.
