REFLECTION QUESTIONSimplicity Disconnect from EmailNotice how much time you were spending checking email away from work and make note of that. Now that you have stepped away from it and have not been checking, what changes are you noticing in your thoughts, use of time, stress and energy levels?
Betsy Wing 10/28/2020 8:54 AMI feel much more present when I'm not worried about incoming emails. Disconnecting allows me to focus my energy on myself and my family. It contributes to decreased stress levels and an increase in time to dedicate to things that I enjoy! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth Reduce Refined SugarBefore you started this challenge, did you think you were 'addicted' to sugar? How do you feel now?
Betsy Wing 10/26/2020 8:18 AMPrior to this challenge, I thought I was aware of how much sugar I was actually eating. This challenge has helped me realize that I'm consuming a lot of sugar unintentionally in addition to the sweet treats that I'm prone to craving! This challenge has definitely helped me to scrutinize my foods more closely and has increased my awareness overall of my personal sugar consumption. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONSimplicity Support a Sharing EconomyWhat are some of the barriers to sharing economies? What is your plan for supporting or creating one in your community?
Betsy Wing 10/14/2020 8:40 AMI think marketing is a huge barrier to sharing economies. We are constantly inundated with advertising pushing us to consume the newest thing and little to no advertising supporting idea of a sharing economy. I think most people would be open to a sharing economy if they new such a thing was available in their community. There are several neighborhood groups that I've joined online to support the local sharing economy where I live. I make sure to share posts and have encouraged friends and family to find similar groups where they live. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth Practice Loving-Kindness MeditationHow can practicing Loving-Kindness Meditation be helpful to the health of the environment?
Betsy Wing 10/12/2020 8:27 AMWe are in a divided society during an incredibly difficult time. Practicing loving-kindness is a great way to remember that politics aside, we are all human beings, all struggling and I believe, all doing the best we can with the tools that we've been given. I believe that recognizing the humanity in others will and does help to foster a better sense of self and self love and is the first step towards healing division. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONAction Track: Healing and Renewal Go for a Daily Walk OutsideFresh air and movement are good for our entire being and can help us think more clearly and creatively. How does taking a walk each day affect yourself and/or your work?
Betsy Wing 10/02/2020 11:29 AMIt gives me the space I need to reflect, away from computers, away from my phone. When I'm walking, it's just about enjoying fresh air and my dog, and finally connecting with myself instead of constantly being distracted.
