Action Track: Justice for the Whole Community Learn More about Food Apartheid
What can lack of access to nutritious food affect a community? How can having access to nutritious food help a community become more resilient?

A community with a lack of nutritious food options will often struggle with health issues. Access to fresh produce and whole foods should be for everyone in the community, and not just for those who live in well-to-do neighborhoods. Nutritious food impact a child's live immensely.

Pollinators are part of nature and have a purpose in our ecosystem. We need their help pollinating much of the fruits and vegetables we eat.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION

Consider the ways you can garden: a plot of land? a patio container? hanging basket? windowsill gardens? What would work best for your living situation and lifestyle?

I use a combination of gardening spaces: garden in the backyard, some herbs inside and some in a pot in the front yard. My newest plant (thanks to the ecochallenge!) is a potted Bay Laurel. I'm keeping it in for the winter and look forward to using the bay leaves in cooking.

I enjoyed this year's Ecochallenge. I will be able to take what I've started in the past 3 weeks and continue on this path of wellness for my body and for the earth. I'm glad to have gone on this journey with you all!

I'm finding peace in routine and working on improving my health. So many things are out of our control right now. It helps to focus on what I can control.

It's important to recognize that there are multiple indicators of health. Weight isn't the only one. I can weigh the same and have the same amount of muscle and fat and still be in poorer shape than I was pre-quarantine. I'm working at taking longer and longer walks at least three times a week. That seems to be far more important to my physical and mental health than giving up sugar.
