I feel much more present when I'm not worried about incoming emails. Disconnecting allows me to focus my energy on myself and my family. It contributes to decreased stress levels and an increase in time to dedicate to things that I enjoy!

Prior to this challenge, I thought I was aware of how much sugar I was actually eating. This challenge has helped me realize that I'm consuming a lot of sugar unintentionally in addition to the sweet treats that I'm prone to craving! This challenge has definitely helped me to scrutinize my foods more closely and has increased my awareness...

By choosing to invest in companies, we as consumers are giving ourselves the opportunity to impact how those companies conduct business. By choosing to only invest in companies who live our values, we can motivate more companies to begin using more sustainable business practices and consider the environment in big decisions.

Spending time outdoors has made me feel even more a part of my community. I now know where hidden trails are around my neighborhood and know I don't have to go far to feel like I'm in nature.

conventional agriculture feeds the crop, whereas organic agriculture feeds the soil. in order to feed the population we have to begin using organic farming methods that are proven to increase soil organic matter content and enhance microbial soil biodiversity. Once inch of soil takes 3,000 years to form, so we cannot risk losing any more than...

Taking a walk gives me a boost of energy. It's a time to relax, be with nature, and have some time for just myself (for most walks). I've also used walks as a way to split up my day between work and evening while working from home. Walks give me a pretend commute that gives a bit more structure to my day.

It was surprising to see how things that I don't think of having computer screen time require a screen. Exercise lately has required a screen since I've been doing YouTube workouts instead of going to the gym and I've been reading books on my phone. I transitioned to physical books to have less screen time, plus I have done some paper and pen...

I think marketing is a huge barrier to sharing economies. We are constantly inundated with advertising pushing us to consume the newest thing and little to no advertising supporting idea of a sharing economy. I think most people would be open to a sharing economy if they new such a thing was available in their community. There are several...

We are in a divided society during an incredibly difficult time. Practicing loving-kindness is a great way to remember that politics aside, we are all human beings, all struggling and I believe, all doing the best we can with the tools that we've been given. I believe that recognizing the humanity in others will and does help to foster a better...

I love the chance to speak with farmers I meet at the local market or farm stand about their experience growing food for the local and regional community. It is a difficult and thankless job, but is equally as rewarding.
