    Food Reduce Animal Products
Why do people in richer countries eat more meat than people in other places? How does eating more meat affect our planet and other people?

Culturally I was used to meat only once a week and once i moved to a country in the developed world my meat consumption increased to daily. Now I am circling back to eating meat once or twice a week. I primarily thing in richer countries meat is so cheap. In other regions vegetables have been the cheaper option. But this paradigm is slowly shifting as industrialized agriculture becomes more prevalent. This is where the recognizing the true cost of food would be useful.

    Food Weekly Meal Planning
An average American throws out about 240 lbs of food per year. The average family of four in the US spends $1,500 a year on food that they throw out. Does this surprise you? Where would you rather use this money?

There are two forms of food wasted - food waste from the plate, food waste from cooking. The food waste from cooking can be reduced but not eliminated, but food waste from the plate can be eliminated through conscious food consumption. This amount is not surprising, I thought it would be higher. I would rather use this money to pay extra for high quality food.

    Food Whole Foods Diet
Michael Pollan states that “it is better to pay the grocer (our edit: or the farmer!) than the doctor.” What are your thoughts on this assertion?

Food is medicine is a concept that has been culturally engrained. So I would rather pay a farmer for good quality, healthy, and safe food.
