  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Water Eco-Friendly Gardening
What are the most prominent water concerns in your area? Examples include drought, flooding, pollution, access, security, and privatization.

    Laura Cookson's avatar
    Laura Cookson 10/28/2020 8:10 AM
Drinkability.  The water in my area suffers from poor/ageing treatment facilities.  Thus the technician adds far more chemicals to the water than they should need to.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Health Know My Health
How do you deal with the physical and emotional stress of the big problems we face? How can you help others cope?

    Laura Cookson's avatar
    Laura Cookson 10/28/2020 8:08 AM
I deal with them by taking them one step at a time.  When they first occur, I will have my breakdown, but once that is done I get down to business.  I focus on changing or supporting the things that I can, accepting the things I cannot change, and hope that I have the wisdom to know the difference
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Health Go Get a Check Up
How do you practice self care?

    Laura Cookson's avatar
    Laura Cookson 10/28/2020 8:06 AM
I remain aware of how my body feels and reacts to everything that I do.  By being aware, I can increase vitamin C, or any other vitamins that my body may need to be able to fight any infections, diseases or viruses that it comes across.  When needed I visit the doctor and get the proper treatments.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Health Take Control
How do environmental health, community health, and your personal health intersect?

    Laura Cookson's avatar
    Laura Cookson 10/28/2020 8:00 AM
By keeping myself healthy I can help to keep my community healthy.  By keeping the community healthy, we can keep the environment healthy.  And by keeping the environment healthy, everyone in the world benefits.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Energy Online Energy Audit
What most interested or surprised you about your own energy footprint? What changes did you make or will you make?

    Laura Cookson's avatar
    Laura Cookson 10/28/2020 7:58 AM
It was surprising how one person can use so much energy.  I plan to update the insulation, change the windows and fix any leaking joints.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Action Track: Healing and Renewal Engage In Active Listening
What was it like to actively listen to someone? How did both people and the conversation(s) benefit from active listening?

    Laura Cookson's avatar
    Laura Cookson 10/28/2020 7:57 AM
It was really good. We both learned that being there for each other is vital and communicating effectively will help us to understand each other better
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food Plant an Herb Garden
Consider the ways you can garden: a plot of land? a patio container? hanging basket? windowsill gardens? What would work best for your living situation and lifestyle?

    Laura Cookson's avatar
    Laura Cookson 10/14/2020 1:49 PM
I like the plot of land and hanging baskets. I quite enjoy tending to my garden.  I only wish it was a raised garden instead.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Food Try a New Way to Prep
Canning and pickling food is a great way to have delicious summer fruits and vegetables all year round. Just make sure to follow the canning and pickling guidelines from the USDA or another trusted source. What are some foods that you would like to preserve and enjoy later in the year?

    Laura Cookson's avatar
    Laura Cookson 10/14/2020 1:48 PM
Cucumbers, Carrots, Beans, Peaches, Cherries, Blueberries, Mangos
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Nature Support Local Pollinators
Why is it important to take care of pollinators?

    Laura Cookson's avatar
    Laura Cookson 10/14/2020 1:46 PM
If the pollinators aren't around vegetables and fruits won't grow.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Health Audit Toxic Cleaning Products in my Home
To what extent do environmental factors contribute to your own health or issues with health?

    Laura Cookson's avatar
    Laura Cookson 10/14/2020 1:45 PM
The increase in the use of chemicals in the home has been matched to an increase in the rate of cancers.
