“Electric vehicles can dramatically reduce running costs through lower maintenance and fuel costs, not to mention lower emissions and pollution. On average, it costs about half as much to drive an all-electric vehicle, according to the Department of Energy.” This inspires me to switch, although planning for charging stations in remote markets that I continue to travel to still have me on the fence not making the move just yet. Good learning from this article!

REFLECTION QUESTIONTransportation Research and Consider Switching to a Hybrid or Electric VehicleReducing (or eliminating) exhaust emissions and improving public health are two benefits of green vehicles. What other motivators inspire you to consider switching to a more fuel-efficient vehicle?
Holly Curry 10/27/2020 4:08 PMIn researching switching to hybrid or electric vehicles, I read an article consumer reports posted. https://www.consumerreports.org/cro/cars/hybrids-evs/buying-guide/index.htm

REFLECTION QUESTIONEnergy Online Energy AuditWhat most interested or surprised you about your own energy footprint? What changes did you make or will you make?
Holly Curry 10/27/2020 3:46 PMI completed an energy efficiency scavenger hunt! Super fun and a big learning for me! I have a lot of chargers around the house that never get unplugged. I will be more mindful of unplugging when not in use. When we moved into our house last year we changed all our bulbs to LED to help save energy 👍

REFLECTION QUESTIONAction Track: Healing and Renewal Learn About Constructive CommunicationHow can you, your loved ones, the community, and environment all benefit from constructive communication?
Holly Curry 10/27/2020 3:38 PMWith constructive communication you Focus on the problem not the person and lead statements with “I” not “You”. These are 2 very important ways to not erode self esteem and harm relationships. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONAction Track: Justice for the Whole Community Watch a Documentary about Food SovereigntyHow does food sovereignty address the complex transition from localized food systems to modern global food systems?
Holly Curry 10/27/2020 2:59 PMHighly recommend watching GATHER! $4.99 on Amazon Video.
“Gather,” a documentary by Sanjay Rawal, intimately examines one intangible loss — food traditions — and its use in pursuit of Native sovereignty in the United States.

REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Plant an Herb GardenConsider the ways you can garden: a plot of land? a patio container? hanging basket? windowsill gardens? What would work best for your living situation and lifestyle?
-
REFLECTION QUESTIONAction Track: Justice for the Whole Community Reduce Single-Use DisposablesWhat single-use items (e.g. straws, coffee cups, vegetable bags, plastic bags) do you regularly use? What did you substitute or could be substituted instead?
Holly Curry 10/07/2020 5:19 PMToday I saved 2 kcups by using the reusable pod attachment. I also refilled my Starbucks water bottle 3 times saving 3 bottles of water. And I use a reusable stainless steel straw. We have also invested in silicone stretch lids to use over our plates/bowls instead of plastic containers or ziplocks. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONAction Track: Healing and Renewal Healthy SleepConsider how many hours of sleep you get now. How would you like to shift your sleep patterns? What are you finding works for you to be successful in this action?
Holly Curry 10/07/2020 5:13 PMI am currently working to get a minimum of 8 hours of sleep a night. What’s working well is the sleep | wake up function on my phone. I love that it tells me when to wind down and go to bed 🛌 -
