Rachael's actions
Simplicity
Meditate
Do at Home
I will meditate or create a moment of silence for 5 minute(s) each day to reflect on things important to me.
Water
Say No to Plastic Straws
Do at Home
An estimated 71% of seabirds and 30% of turtles have been found with plastics in their stomachs. When they ingest plastic, marine life has a 50% mortality rate. By asking for no straw when placing a drink order, I will keep 1 plastic straw(s) of out of the ocean each day.
Community
Support Native Communities
Do at Home
I will use the resource links provided and spend 10 minutes learning about the native populations that lived in my area prior to colonization, and what I can do to support those that still exist.
Simplicity
Work-Life Balance
Do at Home
I will not work more than 8 hour days each day to practice work-life balance.
Simplicity
Research Impact Investing
Do at Home
Using the links provided below, I will research impact investing and determine if it is right for me.
Simplicity
Core Values
Do at Home
We may find more meaning and joy in life when our actions are aligned with our personal values. I will determine what my top 3-5 core values are so that I can better align my actions with them.
Water
Conserve Toilet Water
Do at Home
I will save up to 12 gallons (45 L) of water a day by flushing only when necessary.

Rachael Evans 10/09/2020 6:13 AMI recently watched the new documentary on Netflix - David Attenborough: A Life on Our Planet - as a reminder of why this challenge is so important. The destruction and loss of habitat / species just in my lifetime is staggering. I will continue to take actions in an attempt to reverse these trends and restore the biodiversity of the Earth for our children.
