Nancy's actions
Nature
Go for a Daily Walk
Do at Home
I will take a 45-minute walk outside each day.
Health
Take Control
Do at Home
Both systemic and personal sustainability are important! I will develop a plan with my medical professionals to achieve my best health and live my life to the fullest.
Health
Learn About Local Environmental Justice Concerns
Do at Home
I will spend 30 minutes researching environmental justice and environmental racism concerns in my region, who is affected by them, and local initiatives to address these concerns.
Food
Whole Foods Diet
Do at Home
I will enjoy 2 meal(s) each day free of processed foods.
Food
Reduce Animal Products
Do at Home
I will enjoy 1 meatless meal(s) and/or 1 vegan meal(s) each day this week.
Waste
Reduce Single-Use Disposables
Do at Home
Historically, marginalized and low-income communities live closer to landfills, contributing to a multitude of health problems. I will find out how I can limit single-use items and do my best to limit the waste I generate. I will keep 2 container(s) out of the landfill each day.
Participant Feed

Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.
To get started, share “your why.” Why did you join the challenge and choose the actions you did?

Nancy Gallagher 10/16/2020 8:24 AMWe are traveling (by car) thisweekend and have reusable water bottles and cloth bags with us. Feel like this is becoming so much easier! -
Nancy Gallagher 10/12/2020 9:44 AMI love being part of the ecochallenge.
I think this will help widen my knowledge of how there’s more to being “eco friendly” than just one thing. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWaste Reduce Single-Use DisposablesWhat single-use items (e.g. straws, coffee cups, vegetable bags, plastic bags) do you regularly use? What did you substitute or could be substituted instead?
Nancy Gallagher 9/08/2020 11:55 AMI no longer use disposable cups at work. I am gradually “weaning” off ziplock bags. I only used 1 all last week! Feels good! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONNature Go for a Daily WalkHow do you experience your neighborhood or city differently when walking instead of driving?
Nancy Gallagher 9/08/2020 11:54 AMI’ve been noticing the home improvement projects my neighbors are doing.
