Waste
Use a Reusable Mug
Do at Home
I will avoid sending 2 disposable cup(s) to the landfill each day by using a reusable mug.
Energy
Encourage my company and/or organization to measure and manage their carbon footprint
Do at Home
Organizations have a responsibility to make sustainable business decisions. To understand how to improve sustainable practices, it’s important to start with understanding the current impact. I will share the Tradewater Business Carbon Calculator with my organization.
Waste
Prevent Recycling Contamination
Do at Home
Contamination prevents what is recyclable from being recycled. I will spend 20 minutes researching which materials are accepted by local haulers or drop stations in my community and recycle only those items.
Waste
Research Local Waste Sites
Do at Home
I will spend 20 minutes finding out where landfills and/or toxic waste sites are situated in my region and which communities are most impacted by these sites.
Action Track: Justice for the Whole Community
Support Businesses Owned by People of Color
Do at Home
Racial inequity is both a sustainability and justice problem. I will support businesses owned by people of color in my community whenever I shop.
Waste
Learn About & Practice Sustainable Fashion
Do at Home
I will spend 20 minutes learning about sustainable fashion and begin trying to practice it in my own life.
Action Track: Healing and Renewal
Family Game Hour
Do at Home
I will spend quality time with family and friends by playing low-tech game(s) and/or through the spirit of imagination.
Action Track: Healing and Renewal
Go for a Daily Walk Outside
Do at Home
I will take a walk outside for 30 minutes each day.

I will create or support a sharing economy with family, friends, and neighbors.

REFLECTION QUESTIONWaste Learn About & Practice Sustainable FashionHow can you express your personality, creativity, and values in ways that don't require fast fashion or buying more clothes and accessories?
Blair Neelands 10/14/2020 3:48 PMI prefer to purchase sustainable clothing from a thrift store near my house or from upcycled brands like Cotopaxi. This has become a small way I express my environmental activism. If I receive a complement on my clothes, I like to let people know where I got it and how it's a more sustainable option than buying fast fashion. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONCommunity Sign Up to VoteWhy is voting important to creating a just, sustainable, and thriving world? In what other ways can you actively participate in important decision-making?
Blair Neelands 10/07/2020 11:15 AMMy vote and my voice matter. Another way I actively participate in decision-making is encouraging family and friends to vote in local elections. -
