If you live in northern Cook County, you can take advantage of the Solid Waste Agency of Northern Cook County (SWANCC). There are three permanent ELECTRONIC drop-off locations: the Glenview Transfer Station (year round) every Saturday,  Mount Prospect Public Works (April through October) on Wednesdays, and Hoffman Estates Village Hall  (April through November) Mondays.  Go to www.swancc.org for the specific times and locations.

For my long term goal, I've begun researching other recycling options beside our town's weekly pick up.  Elk Grove has started a new program for old textiles.  Residents fill orange bags with old shoes and clothes. Based on the condition, they may be resold or processed for raw materials.

    Waste Choose Two-Sided Printing
Choosing two-sided printing can be an easy adjustment on your computer settings. How can you help others make this same switch? Can it be encouraged company wide?

I had my parents and my brother change the print settings on our home printer so all of us are reducing the amount of paper we're using.
