REFLECTION QUESTIONWaste Sustainable Study Tips (Oct 14th @ 2pm)Using information from the seminar, how can you improve your study habits?
Chloe Tarlen 10/20/2020 6:12 AMI can improve my study habits by making sure I get a good nights sleep. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWaste Advocate For More Food Packaging OptionsWhat concerns you the most about how we are affecting the planet? Consider both local and global actions.
Chloe Tarlen 10/10/2020 10:41 AMWhat concerns me is the fact that it seems as if individuals don't have a say in helping the planet become more environmentally conscious as a whole. Corporations are responsible for most environmental damage, and it leaves most individuals hopeless. Losing hope will make us lose the biggest challenge we are currently facing: Climate Change. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWaste Come One, Come All, Clean Up!What kind of trash did you find around your community? How did you dispose of it?
Chloe Tarlen 10/10/2020 10:40 AMWhile walking around my town, I found many kinds of plastic bottles, soda cans, and glass bottles. I was able to bring them to a recycling facility near my local grocery store to safely dispose of them. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONNature Forage for My FoodPeople are motivated to forage for many different reasons: as a source for food, a means of income, to connect with nature, to participate in cultural tradition, transmitting specific ecological knowledge, or as a means of stewarding local and native plant populations are just a few examples. What is your chief motivation for foraging?
Chloe Tarlen 10/10/2020 10:39 AMMy motivation for foraging locally is to both connect with nature, and to get a nice healthy snack if I'm outside away from home! There are lots of blueberry bushes by me! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONNature Leave No TraceEducator Stephanie Kaza advises her students to focus on what they care about most when addressing the enormity of ecological problems. Is there a specific area you feel particularly called to work on?
Chloe Tarlen 10/10/2020 10:32 AMI'm not sure why, but I have always been attracted to water quality, in terms of human drinking water. I've actually done a couple projects on Long Island's drinking water in attempt to show people how contaminated their water actually is. -
Chloe Tarlen 10/10/2020 10:29 AMHey Guys! I'm Chloe! I'm a Junior Environmental Sustainability & Geography Dual major! I'm super siked to see the number of people who have joined our team! I'll send weekly emails to update everyone on the team who has made the most points. Hopefully, we can all form some new environmentally-friendly habits through the actions listed by the People's Ecochallenge! Also, don't forget that you can earn points by attending the sustainability events listed in Rachel Kornhauser's emails! You guys should be able to see them in our team's actions! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONNature Spend Time OutsideRachel Carson said that we need the beauty and mysteries of the natural world for our spiritual and emotional development. Does that ring true for you? What are the implications for a culture that spends most of its time indoors?
Chloe Tarlen 10/02/2020 8:38 AMI feel as if being stuck inside makes most people really unhappy. By going outside a bit more every day, you can begin to appreciate nature far more. Going outside after being stuck inside for a while is extremely refreshing. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONNature Go for a Daily WalkHow do you experience your neighborhood or city differently when walking instead of driving?
Chloe Tarlen 10/02/2020 8:36 AMI love walking around instead of being cooped in a car! Especially since the weather has been beautiful lately, and I have not needed to go anywhere far!
