Kelly Bindewald 10/15/2020 4:01 PMNo trips to the store today, but I did put more reusable bags in the second car so I don't forget.
I managed to find out exactly what gets recycled vs. just put in a land fill. It's not as much as you would think. -
Kelly Bindewald 10/13/2020 12:23 PMSo I have been struggling with a few things. One is remembering to post each time I go to the store with my reusable bags, and when I find new recycling options I didn't know about.
I did go to the store yesterday and since I was using a car that I don't normally drive, my stash of reusable bags was not available (Facepalm). So I decided to split my bags between the two cars. Since I didn't have any yesterday I opted for using a few boxes from the store and drop those in the recycling bin afterward. So success was had even with the hiccups.-

REFLECTION QUESTIONWaste Use Reusable BagsWhat do you do if you find yourself in the situation of needing a bag for items but don't have a reusable one with you or aren't allowed to use the one you brought? Carry things out in your hands? In a cart? Accept a disposable one? If you find yourself in this position often, what system could you put in place to try to create a successful habit of not using plastic bags?
Kelly Bindewald 10/08/2020 12:37 PMFirst step was to put re-useable bags in my car. Once I did that, I really have no excuse. I will be going to the store today after work, so we will see if I remember to grab them before going in the store. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWaste Find Local Recycling DepotsOur ability to recycle certain things ebbs and flows based upon many factors, including market demand for recyclables. Luckily there are places that accept uncommon things to recycle or dispose of in a less harmful way. What did you find when looking for places to recycle items that can't be recycled in your curbside bin?
Kelly Bindewald 10/08/2020 12:22 PMI found a website called Freecycle where people are able to post things that they want to get rid of. Could be old lumber from a deck being torn apart. I posted an add for our old upright grand piano. We need to get rid of it but I won't take it to the dump. Freecycle seems to be a really cool option. They dont allow people to charge for what they post so it's budget friendly too.
