Watch a Documentary about Racial Injustice
Do at Home
I will watch 1 documentary(ies) about systemic racism.

REFLECTION QUESTIONAction Track: Justice for the Whole Community Watch a Documentary about Racial InjusticeWhat did you learn about racial injustice in the documentary(ies) you watched? How does what you learned connect to your understanding of sustainability?
Emma Comer 10/24/2020 4:01 PMI learned about one's own ability to be able to help deconstruct racism. I think it connects to my understanding of sustainability by highlighting the emotional and ethical implications of it as well, which ultimately affect the physical. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth ForgivenessHow has the process of forgiving, or contemplating forgiveness, benefited you?
Emma Comer 10/24/2020 3:36 PMIt has helped me be able to be more in the present, and also allowed me to be gentler on my past self. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONNature Support Local PollinatorsWhy is it important to take care of pollinators?
Emma Comer 10/24/2020 3:31 PMIt's important to take care of pollinators because they help keep not only natures ecosystems afoot, but ours as well! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWaste Personal Waste AuditWhy is it often difficult to understand the impacts our purchases and waste have on other people, animals, and places?
Emma Comer 10/24/2020 3:11 PMI think it's because it often requires a good deal of research to understand. Also, I think it is due to a lack of seeing the effect of it all in one's own day to day life. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWaste Go PaperlessReducing your paper mail can reduce mental clutter as well as physical waste -- by reducing what is coming in, you can reduce what is going into the recycling bin too. How does it make you feel? What is the next step you will take to reduce your waste?
Emma Comer 10/24/2020 3:08 PMIt's nice to know that such a small action has such a big impact. The next step I will take is to continue my search for reusable products, in order to be as zero waste as possible. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWaste Find Local Recycling DepotsOur ability to recycle certain things ebbs and flows based upon many factors, including market demand for recyclables. Luckily there are places that accept uncommon things to recycle or dispose of in a less harmful way. What did you find when looking for places to recycle items that can't be recycled in your curbside bin?
Emma Comer 10/24/2020 3:06 PMI found out that a lot of things that I thought weren't recyclable, are! I also found out that some of the things I would throw away actually need to be taken to a specific recycling center, like paint and old electronics. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWaste Research Local Waste SitesIn what neighborhoods or areas of your region are landfills or other waste sites located? Which communities are most affected by these locations?
Emma Comer 10/24/2020 3:01 PMWhat I was able to find for my own area was the access to recycling, and it's current availability to everyone. However from the articles I read, I learned that POC communities are most affected by landfills and waste sites, as it is in their communities that the government has decided to place them. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWaste Advocate For More Food Packaging OptionsWhat concerns you the most about how we are affecting the planet? Consider both local and global actions.
Emma Comer 10/24/2020 12:33 AMI think a lot of what concerns me is the complete disregard/ignorance individuals have of our effect on the planet. The way in which this attitude fosters a mentality of un-intentionality and laziness ultimately leads to the continuation of small scale pollution, which concerns me greatly! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONTransportation Car ShareTake a moment to think of places you frequent often (work, grocery store, school, natural areas). Could you choose one or two days a week to schedule driving with a friend, neighbor or co-worker to these places?
Emma Comer 10/24/2020 12:20 AMFor places that don't have a strict time that I must be there, this can be attainable:-)
