It can help you pause and notice the nature surrounding you more. This leads to a greater appreciation of the world that surrounds us.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Water 5-Minute Showers
Name some of the human activities impacting the health of water systems, both locally (your watershed) and globally (freshwater and oceans). What can you do to improve the health of water systems?

Fast fashion impacts the heath of water systems. I watched a documentary that showed the factories where a lot of our cheaper clothing is made abroad, and the water was very polluted from the factories and caused a lot of illnesses in the surrounding areas. By shopping less and shopping at second hand stores more can help improve water quality.

Writing down gratitude's is a great way to appreciate your life, and the lives of the people around you. It also helps you know what truly gives you joy.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Simplicity Needs Vs. Wants
How is creativity a necessary ingredient for practicing simplicity?

You can use your creativity to make something that you were going to buy. For instance, I am going to be making a birthday card rather than buying one.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food Reduce Animal Products
Why do people in richer countries eat more meat than people in other places? How does eating more meat affect our planet and other people?

Meat is expensive. When you have less money, you will eat cheaper proteins such as rice and beans. A great way to save money is to eat less meat or to think of meat as a side dish rather than the "main course." I remember reading somewhere that it takes 50 gallons of water for a cheeseburger because livestock takes up so much of our water resources. Also, I remember seeing that if everyone was vegetarian for one day out of the week, it would have a tremendous positive affect on the environment.
