Reflection QuestionNature Enjoy the Sunrise/SunsetFather Thomas Berry says, "... our primary purpose is celebration. Celebration of the dawn and the sunset and the different seasons of the year is a religious ritual, a way in which humans can establish their integral relationship with the universe, with the planet Earth." What is your response to Berry's assertion?
Ron Pepple 10/17/2020 3:18 PMLove seeing the sun rise each morning! Such a great way to start a new day in a positive way, and I thank God every time I see it. Likewise, I love to see the sun set over our pool and lagoon, as a way to de-stress from the day. -

Reflection QuestionNature Explore My AreaHow can spending more time outdoors enhance your sense of place -- your deep knowledge of and appreciation for your surroundings?
Ron Pepple 10/17/2020 2:25 PMLoved spending time out hiking at UNF today. First time there, and loved visiting a new place outside with friends. Four hour hike, with no talk of Covid 19, politics, or social issues. Great exercise and great weather. Kimberly and I will do this many times more as we prepare for our Tucson, AZ hiking trip -
Reflection QuestionTransportation Research and Consider Switching to a Hybrid or Electric VehicleReducing (or eliminating) exhaust emissions and improving public health are two benefits of green vehicles. What other motivators inspire you to consider switching to a more fuel-efficient vehicle?
Ron Pepple 10/14/2020 6:33 PMA green vehicle is probably in our distant future, and probably our next purchase. However, we dont drive much as it is, and will wait until after our current vehicle needs replace and more power stations are installed for electrical vehicles. Like to see that more and more EVs are being produced though -
Ron Pepple 10/09/2020 6:20 PMWe went shopping at the recently opened Whole Foods in our neighborhood today. The Smart Seafood choice action in Ecochallenge pushed me to look for sustainable seafood options, and ALL of Whole Foods seafood is just that...
"All the seafood in our Seafood department is Responsibly Farmed or sustainable wild-caught. Our seafood is traceable to farm or fishery, and we work hard to source it only from responsibly managed farms and abundant, well-managed wild fisheries. Year after year, we’re recognized by Greenpeace for our rigorous seafood sustainability practices."

Reflection QuestionFood Smart Seafood ChoicesMany states and countries have advisories on eating fish. Find out what is advised for your region. Do you think your diet choices fall within these guidelines? What steps do you need to take to make sure that they do?
Ron Pepple 10/08/2020 1:53 PMReflection question....I didn't know we had a Florida advisory for eating fish. Just started browsing it, but will learn a lot I am sure!! -
Ron Pepple 10/08/2020 1:31 PMFive minute showers are a very easy way to reduce water usage. I had done this in the past, when we lived in Ohio, but forgot about it until this challenge series. I realized by just having the water on long enough to get wet, wash with soap, and rinse off, that I am able to reduce not only water usage, but the amount of soap needed by 75%, because the soap isnt washed off the cloth by running water while I am using it.
