It was nice to be more accountable through these challenges.

This was a great challenge. I will continue to be aware of my actions/impact on the world around me. I want to continue to challenge myself and others to do so. Are there other challenges? Can you use this site without a challenge?

    Waste Skip the Straw
How could you incorporate other "R's" -- reduce, reuse, refuse, repair, repurpose, etc. -- into your lifestyle?

I reuse paper bags as often as I can. One way is to reuse them as wrapping paper for Christmas and birthday presents. I have began refusing plastic bags at stores when it's possible to just carry the items or using one of my own bags. I will try to repurpose household items for décor more. I will also try to reduce my trash waste by buying items NOT prepackaged or in plastic wrap.

I am finding meditation more and more important with the negativity of election season, covid spikes, and colder temps surrounding me.  I have also made a huge effort to up my fruit and veggie intake!

How often do you meditate? and for how long? I feel as though I cannot concentrate when I try to meditate.

I take walking breaks during the day to clear my mind.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Water Collect Rain Water
Trace the water that flows down the drain from your house to the largest body of water nearby. What is the route it takes?

I think the largest body of water that my drain goes into is the city's holding ponds a couple of miles down the road. I have had the opportunity as a councilmember to be able to see these holding ponds and work with the maintenance person. I am able to educate myself on how these are used and operated on a monthly basis.

I'm eating healthier, my house looks more organized and I'm removing plastic bags from the earth. I'd say this is a win-win

Simplicity Go for a Daily Walk Outside
Fresh air and movement are good for our entire being and can help us think more clearly and creatively. How does taking a walk each day affect yourself and/or your work?

Get to be outside in fresh air, enjoying the nature and see how everything changes as day goes by. Nature is magical in its own way! I enjoy watching the sky, the stars, sunsets, and of course meet other neighbors and the cute little kids and pets. These things definitely bring a smile to your face!

    Simplicity De-Clutter My Home
How can you prevent yourself from accumulating more things in the future?

A wise person told me, Robin it's just stuff - you can get more stuff but you need to get rid of this stuff.  With that attitude I have recycled, repurposed, and donated many things from my home.  I find I have more room, I'm less stressed and the rooms look bigger.  I use the rule of "do I want it or do I need it" when making any purchases now.
