REFLECTION QUESTIONAction Track: Healing and Renewal Go for a Daily Walk OutsideFresh air and movement are good for our entire being and can help us think more clearly and creatively. How does taking a walk each day affect yourself and/or your work?
Anna Nadon 10/28/2020 9:24 AMTaking the time and space to get out of my house and home office helps me find balance and energy to come back and continue my work more productively. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONAction Track: Healing and Renewal Mindfulness PracticeWhat best helped you with your Mindfulness Practice? How does Mindfulness keep you grounded and sustain your work with compassion?
Anna Nadon 10/28/2020 9:22 AMI have a fitness app that provides guided mindful sessions that helped me in my practice as it is something that I have often struggled with. I found that these efforts helped me maintain my balance and mental stability with all the uncertainty going on right now. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWaste Personal Waste AuditWhy is it often difficult to understand the impacts our purchases and waste have on other people, animals, and places?
Anna Nadon 10/28/2020 9:20 AMI think the hardest thing about understanding the impact of our waste is that it seems so easy to dispose of. Just throw it in your can and let someone else take it away - you don't physically see the impact of the process at all, out of sight and out of mind. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONNature Plant TreesHow is planting trees good for your mental, physical, and spiritual health?
Anna Nadon 10/26/2020 6:31 AMFor me, planting trees and having trees around makes a space feel more like home.
I was hoping to get a new tree planted in my yard this fall, but the weather turned colder much faster than I anticipated so I will have to wait until spring to get my Eastern Redbud. :)-
Christi Hodgson 10/28/2020 11:29 AMEastern Redbud is such a beautiful tree! hopefully worth the wait.

REFLECTION QUESTIONAction Track: Justice for the Whole Community Research Voter SuppressionWhat are the ways in which voters are prohibited from or discouraged from voting in your region and/or state? What could be done to get rid of these barriers?
Anna Nadon 10/22/2020 8:06 AMIn recent years there have been a number of efforts to limit voting in Wisconsin, specifically by adding voter ID requirements which impacts students attending universities and others who may not have an id.
Additionally, specifically during COVID-19, some polling locations have been closed and consolidated limiting easy access to polls and increasing lines/voting time.
While it does not specifically apply to helping mitigate these barriers, I plan to volunteer as an election official in our upcoming presidential election. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONAction Track: Healing and Renewal Family Game HourHow does being playful with others enrich your life?
Anna Nadon 10/19/2020 7:40 AMI love playing board games with my family - it is nice to unplug and engage with each other in new and different ways. We can relax and tackle new problems together. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONNature Support Local PollinatorsWhy is it important to take care of pollinators?
Anna Nadon 10/13/2020 6:45 AMTo maintain our ecosystem and keep our planet healthy.
I plan to enhance my two rain gardens next year with more native and flowering plants. I also plan to add two small pollinator gardens with flowers that bloom at different times throughout the season. I hope to also add a flowering tree to my yard.-
Christi Hodgson 10/28/2020 11:32 AMdo you find the rain gardens are reducing run-off to the storm sewer? which plants do you already have in the rain garden? -
Anna Nadon 10/14/2020 9:08 AMWhen we installed the rain gardens last year we planted: smooth penstemon, wild petunia, black eyed susans, tall meadow rue, marsh blazingstar, downy wood mint, alum root, butterfly flower, white upland aster, pale-spiked lobelia, aromatic aster, gray and rigid goldenrod, blueflag iris, and ironweed. This year, I'm only sure that my alum root and irises survived. I'm hoping some more of our plants bloom next year to see what all made it and which plants I need to get more of.
As for new things, I really want to add some milkweed to a neighboring wildflower garden to help support butterflies more. I'm also planning to plant some sunflowers and lupine. -
Courtney Groszhans 10/13/2020 9:57 AMWhat native plants were you thinking of including? That is so cool that you have a rain garden!
