  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Waste Use Reusable Bags
What do you do if you find yourself in the situation of needing a bag for items but don't have a reusable one with you or aren't allowed to use the one you brought? Carry things out in your hands? In a cart? Accept a disposable one? If you find yourself in this position often, what system could you put in place to try to create a successful habit of not using plastic bags?

For me, I carry my items out of the store if I don't have my reusable bag or if I am not allowed to use one. If the store has a cart, I will just put the items back into the cart and take them to my car where my bags are. Love that I don't have soooo many plastic bags around my house.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Health Forgiveness
How has the process of forgiving, or contemplating forgiveness, benefited you?

I am not going to lie, it is really hard to let go of things that you held onto for so long. This journey has made me feel lighter. I feel less stressed and I have learned that it wasn't intended to be personal. It is nice to not have to be angry or upset with someone when you see them.

Action Track: Healing and Renewal Go for a Daily Walk Outside
Fresh air and movement are good for our entire being and can help us think more clearly and creatively. How does taking a walk each day affect yourself and/or your work?

I love walking with my kid and my husband. With both or with just one of them. It is nice to just walk and talk. The fresh air is a nice break from sitting at home doing work. I feel more energized to work the next day because walking helps get me tired. I want to go to sleep after walking.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Waste Go Paperless
Reducing your paper mail can reduce mental clutter as well as physical waste -- by reducing what is coming in, you can reduce what is going into the recycling bin too. How does it make you feel? What is the next step you will take to reduce your waste?

I found this app, called Paper Karma, that helps with this process. You take a picture of the mailer's address/contact info, put in your address and hit "unsubscribe" and it will send a message to that organization, asking them to remove you from their mailing list. We got one of these today at work, asking to be removed from our mailing list, so I looked it up! Looks very easy to use, and free!

Hi team. Even though I’m not checking in much I’m doing the work. Trying to reduce screen time is good for me, but means I’m not checking in every day.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Water 5-Minute Showers
Name some of the human activities impacting the health of water systems, both locally (your watershed) and globally (freshwater and oceans). What can you do to improve the health of water systems?

I usually try to limit my shower time. During normal times I shower every two to three days. During Covid I shower maybe once a week... while I shower less frequently, I think they’re slightly longer showers than I used to take. Does this even it out? I should probably bring back the timer I used to keep in the shower.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Simplicity Less Screen Time
What did you notice in implementing this challenge? Was it hard to choose other activities over screen time? How did you decide to spend your time?

I am walking or doing crafts or prepping for baby’s arrival. I still listen to audiobooks.

    Simplicity Limit Social Media
Social media can keep us connected with loved ones, make us laugh, and help us to learn new things. It can also take more time than we realize or intend to give. After doing this action for a few days, how do you feel? What do you notice?

I am much happier limiting my phone use. This is one of the reasons I haven’t checked in as often to the eco challenge. Sitting and scrolling is a waste of time!!
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Health More Fruits and Veggies
How does eating more fruits and vegetables and less meat positively affect yourself, other people, and our planet?

It allows us to spend time together outside of meal time and just be silly and not worry about chores, school, work, climate change!!
