October 28 at 12:17 PMI'm not surprised that a lot of food gets thrown out, but the number here (240 lbs/year, which is about 4.6 lbs/week/person) is more than I expected. I already try to minimize the amount of food I waste, and the money I save goes towards any number of things that make me happy (like buying fancy ingredients to try new recipes).
